Following our policy strategy to publish releases on a regular basis, OpenOffice.org 2.3.1 is available for download now. Although it is primarily a maintenance release, we recommend users to install the release due to a security fix.

The question is, why would you want to sell it if its free? Wouldn't that be shamefull, or not? Myself, I couldn't sell it, people would hate the seller when they found out its a free program, but it is leagal to sell it.

Its a she, and she aslo made her own ebook selling auctiva, which I have talked about in here before, auctiva is that site that tracks people and sells the data in exchange for free ebay auction templates and tools. She doesn't understand or doesn't care. She is in an ebay group I belong to about making ebooks. I was going to tell her auctiva would probably pay her for trying to sell their ad but I kept quiet and only wanted to post that in here about open office to get it off my chest.

I don't think it is illegal to sell open office, but seems rather low to do it and I would think people would be mad if they found out it is a free program.

That disclaimer notice on her auction page is something I posted in the group for people to put in ebooks that I got from firstpage, and she posted it on her auction, ... I don't know why, I guess to make it look like she knows the law or somethig so people would feel confident paying for a free progarm.

She does sell quite a bit, more than I do I think. She wanted to sell one of my ebooks but I decided I don't want to give resell rights away on any of my ebooks. I saw someone in ebay was offering one million ebooks and I bet at least some are not resellables. There is a lot of slick ones in ebay.

BTW, she is a nice lady, friendly and all, everyone likes her. I think its kindof funny what she does.

OpenOffice is open source software and like all other Open Source projects, it is not legal to sell it except to recover the costs of the blank CD/DVD and shipping. If the lady on eBay is selling OpenOffice for a profit, she is breaking the Open Source rules and should be reported...
