I just made this ebook this morning. I can include it with other ebooks as a package deal. I will share it here in case anyone is interested. Rb, you should make an ebook on how to maintain a computer and list links to websites that you have posted in here previously. I think a collection of computer info might sell, or worth trying anyway. It only costs a dime to list for 99 cents. I have ebooks written by others on how to write them and more info. So that's an eBook!!! Yeah, I could do one of those.

By the way, MS Word, Word Perfect and Open Office all create a PDF document in just a click. Well ... I think MS Word does, I don't have it on my PC right now so I can't be positive about that but the other two do.

Well I'm on my laptop and I don't have any of those programs to see if they work to covert to pdf. I don't have my office 97 on here yet since reformat. Adobe only lets you do 6, then they want money. I think I have word perfect on my other pcs. I can convert image files and slideshows with both PhotoShops.

Yes you should make an ebook on how to keep your computer running in top shape. You know all that stuff. Let me know if you want to join that ebay group that has info on listing ebooks and stuff.

There is a site I was on today that has about 100 free ebooks, like recipes, ebay tips, website tips, all kinds of stuff. I may try some that relate to fishing to see if the sell.

Yes, you're right about having to buy the full version of Adobe to get the security feature. You can get one here for $19

Word Perfect has this to say about security:

Security of PDF files
Apparently, there is a common misconception about PDF files. Lots of people (myself included) believe that a PDF file is "locked" in the sense that you cannot change it or reuse the text. Unfortunately, this has not been the case for some time.

Savvy users figured out a long time ago that they could copy and paste information from a PDF document into WordPerfect. The original could not be altered, but the information could be repurposed into new documents, which could then be published to PDF. This manual process is tedious and frequently presents problems in preserving the text flow and importing pictures and other graphics.

Here is a screen shot of where you can Publish to PDF in Word Perfect, I just tried it and it works. "Publish To" sounds misleading, after pressing that options you save the document to a folder and when you open it it opens as a PDF file.

I found a converter on ebay for $4 and I bought it. I can now lock my text and images and a lot more, plus I got a ton of free ebooks with package and they have resell rights. I could have bought the same thing for $1.50 on ebay but the seller only had a few sales and this guy had about 2500 and a good rating. I'm real happy with it. I was agfraid you would find it for free right after I bought, but glad you didn't. It doesn't sound too easy to copy the text with.

Doesn't seem to be much that keeps you down for long, you're very resourceful!

Now you have all the knowledge and resources to write and publish an ebook on how to created a secure PDF document!

And thank you for all the time and trouble you took to teach me how to make those small slide shows in .gif format in Adobe Elements. I've been sending some to relatives, they are a big hit. In the past I've gotten a bunch of photos from people through email and now I'm sending some back in a slide show. People really enjoying seeing their photos presented this way.
