I have a cgi script based guestbook that I want people to leave links and images in. Problem is I want them to use a pre-conditioned code like seen in phpBB for both. Or, how can I insert the code so that it is easier for them to leave this type of info.? Orrrr, if leaving a "how to" on the main page of the GB is a solution, then how do I write it??

Thanks to anyone who answers.

I'm really not sure what you mean by "pre-conditioned code".  Could you give an example of what you're requesting???

NR - The ability to have a insert photo link or URL, something like phpbb's bbcode buttons.

For your CGI script to offer the functionality like you find in phpBB, it would have to have the code designed into it.  If it isn't already there, it would be a major undertaking to adjust the code for it.  I'm not sure that it's worth it.  There may be apps available that already include that kind of code...

Ok NR. I love the .cgi script I have because of it's many features since I originally found it. As in, I don't want to look for another script. (laughs) I will work around it. Thank youuuuuuuuu!!

It's a shame that the developer didn't include the functionality that you want.  Have you checked their website to see if they might have created add-ons for it that might give you what you want?  Many times, if you ask real nice, the developer would be happy to add the requested functionality for you, especially if many others are requesting the same thing...

I hope they can help.  Hopefully they have already created exactly what you are requesting, so it's only a matter of installing it standing in the way...
