I don't like it. It fights me, user unfriendly. It won't except my noton antivirous, says the driver isn't compatable. says I can check to see if they have a fix online, but I already deleted the norton that came with which is for 60 days only.

It won't except ps elements 2. Won't even open it.

It is more secure alright, I get nag screens all over the place asking if its ok to do what I'm trying to do. Its a mess. It has more bugs than than there is in my yard. I don't see anything that I like over xp, nothing. Its junk if you ask me, at this point anyway, I hate it.

Same reaction I hear from a lot of first time users of Vista.  Some people wipe the HDD and install XP, some people get use to it.

And yes drivers will be a big issue but I think most programs are updating as fast as they can to meet the Vista requirements.  Some of the newer ones are already compatible with Vista and I don't understand why Adobe wasn't.  After all Vista didn't appear on the scene yesterday.  Check the Adobe web site and Norton also.

You can disable the permission thingy, tell you how here:

Take a look at this, Dave

Adobe clarifies Vista support across product lines

Odd ... just a few days before they said this:

Adobe Has No Plans To Make Current Products Windows Vista Compatible

We're being screwed and Microsoft seems to be behind it.  (Is that a pun?)

Here you go Dave:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 update

I don't know what it means when it says 32 bit only, isn't Vista 64 bit?

Yeah, what I said about Microsoft before, only double.

I'm going to be nice and not say too much bad on here like I did on my forum. But, I am still annoyed with it all.

I did add a new user, then delete it and that helped some, but I still get nag screens at times asking permision from myself to do things. It doesn't matter if you configurit, it still does it.

I also get nag screens about norton very simualr to that trojan I got on my laptop, that makes me think maybe norton is behind all the virouses, worms and trojans like that scum outfit that attacked my laptop. Matter of fact, windows does simular things with the nag screens. I wonder about that guy that was in here last week talking about that trojan. He works for one of the companies that profit from it I think. If anyone clicked on the link he left they could get the trojen is the way I saw it. Thats how they work, those nag screens are maddening and people will pay money to get them removed, its a huge scamming fad going around. There are no internet police to stop them, so norton and ms can do it all they want. I'm not kidding, the norton warnings are just like that trojan I had, just not quite as bad, but ... could be the same scamming tecnique.

I have done a lot of configuring and getting things at a tollerable level. There are some things that aren't all bad but it sure takes a long time to find my way around. I would say it us user unfriendly, not unlike adobe though. Seems the younger generation is making this stuff and making it all different, revolutionary. I would like to strangle them for that, idiots.

I would say vista is twice as slow as xp. Twice as hard to do things, twice as many clicks. The text is twice as small and changing it makes it too big. Sometimes it has a mind of its own, like organizing the desktop without asking you and the like. Try moving a folder and it leaves a copy and everything is like that, twice as much work, twice as heavy, twice as slow.

I will try to think of what is good, ... .... .... nothing, I can't think of anything except, I do get some things to work.

Its like this, what used to be "add remove programs" is now named something else and it is halfway down in cpanel and it moves the next time you try to find it, like it might be more to the right or left or up or down. It is now called something like "programs you have installed" or some other stupid name like that. It is retarded.

I feel your pain, Dave.  About the time we think we have a handle on some of this PC tomfoolery they throw us a curve! violent1

However, a lot of it could be your attitude, Dave.  Instead of fighting Vista every inch of the way maybe you should try making friends with it.  Really, I'm not kidding.  You do have your old PC up and running so you an get your work done, take your time with Vista and see if you can better understand it.  You may discover that it works better than you think.  Also they are coming out with a service pack for it soon that should correct some of it's flaws.

What makes me mad is that when you buy a PC today you have Vista crammed down your throat whether you want it or not.  On the other hand that isn't all that unusual though.  In 2007 you no longer can buy a brand new 2005 car.  Same with other products.  I think it's called progress.  Or build in obsoleteness.  Or making money .... something like that.  LOL
