Hey Bobby, thanks for dropping in:-)
You know I do NOT like to criticize a product in these Ramblings
of mine, but this week I had such a horrendous experience that I
feel I MUST tell you about it, and save you a costly and
frustrating experience.
For 4 years I recommended SpeedUpMyPC in this newsletter because
it was a terrific piece of software which successfully located
Errors on my PC, analyzed memory problems, and automatically
optimized my PC automatically.
Last year I changed over to a different product which did a
similar job and - well I just didn't get around to changing
back. In fact I eventually stopped recommending SpeedUpMy PC.
Well last week I read that Version 3 was being launched so I
contacted the publishers and they kindly gave me a copy of their
latest version along with a copy of their Registry Booster -
software that located and fixed Registry Errors on a PC.
I decided that, after my success with the anti Spyware Killer I
used and recommended to you ( http://www.spyzooka.com/90.php )
I would gladly recommend this software as long as it performed
as well - if not better than the previous versions.
Hmmmm.
After using Registry Booster my FTP manager stopped working. The
Software had wrongly identified it as Spyware and zapped it.
OK, with a little help from the publishers I located the problem.
Strike one because after that one poteneially costly mistake by
the software, there was no way I would have recommended this to
you.
Seems like I'm a masochist because I then went on to try
SpeedUpMyPC version 3.
Disaster. An absolute criminal disaster!
The darned software caused havoc on my system and I ended up
having to uninstall severall programs, and was plagued with nag
screens warning of imminent disaster and ...
I won't go on.
In case I set myself up for a libel case., I will simply say that
as far as I am concerned I will steer clear of these 2 programs
at all costs and will NEVER EVER trust the company again.
The company is http://uniblue.com also at http://iutilities.com
And the programs are called SpeedUpMyPC and Registry Booster.
By sheer coincidence, about 10 minutes after writing this I
received an email from Moe Miller asking me to warn Newbie Club
Members not to use SpeedUpMyPC because he had even worse problems
than I had - and that's saying something!
I would have reprinted his email here, but the tone of his email
would probably have set me up for a libel action!
Strangely enough, Uniblue gave me lots of help when they thought
I was going to start promoting them again.
But when I sent my very strong email about SpeedUpMyPC and said
that I was going to tell you of my experience, they never even
replied! |

I haven't used either of those products. Thank goodness.
