Yesterday I deleted my new website made with their sitebuilder and uploaded my new website made in firstpage. I am haveing some minor problems, like the code seems to change on its own sometimes, but the problem is all my text is underlined and I can't find the error. I think its in the navagation code.

Anyway its up, not much there yet but its the start of something big.

BTW cafepres sent me another check for their ad I put on last month. I need to get with IX for affiliate ads because I already sent someone to IX to buy a site(my brother's buddy).

Your site is looking great fishead...

Code really doesn't change on it's own though.  There are no moving parts in software and no chance for it to wear out.  Software has no life of it's own and no capabilities to modify itself.  As a programmer, I wish I could have blamed the code for some of the mistakes that I've made, but since I controlled everything, I know that I was always to blame for every mistake, whether it seemed that way or not...

I didn't see any underlined code that looked like it wasn't intentional.  Do you have a link to the problematic page???

dontknow

Nr, the underlining text came on its own without any changes made by me, and not all at once, and sometimes one paragraph is ok then next days its underlined. Same with those slideshows, IX actually admitted in writing that the code does fall apart after a lot of traffic. Also, my google ad disapeared last nite, and my cp ad, so that will be first to check out today. I didn't change it, but their gone.

I found a code checker in firstpage and it is most handy. It showed my tables were in great error, and other things, mostly warnings but there was some major errors. I can't find what is corrupting the text but I see now I need to rebuild the index and so I am starting over. Now as soon as I get something on there I run that checker and it tells me right away if its wrong. So far no errors, only a few warnings.

Its that navagation code, it is causing me problems, like with the underlined text, and so I am trying to find other nav. menus. I can use text which I am doing now on new index, its simple and no errors reported.

I set the page properties and this helped, I missed that and it sets my font for whole page, adds color on mouseover text, adds image background etc and so this time I am doing it correctly, or moreso than before. I also put style code in body and it needs to go in head tag I think. I put it in there and no changes.

The tables are confusing, I am trying to learn as I go, but the code is wrong. I am putting table on table, then a new table on that same first table, and well in that code fixer it shows all the tables all goofed up. Its like the ending code is corupting because the tables won't end, they just pile on the one above. Now I am trying it without the tables, but that was yesterday and may play with the tables more because I know I see them in most websites source codes.

If IX told you in writing that the code can change itself, then they made a terrible mistake.  Code has no way to change itself.  If that was true, then none of us could ever use a computer because they would be so undependable and changing that they would never work as expected.  Code can only change if something is changing it.  So unless IX is admitting that they are changing your code or unless they have a program that they have written that edits your files and cherry-picks changes to the code, then the only other explanation is that you have accidentally changed the code.  I would love to see the written statement where they claim that the code changes itself...

Why would only the code that you specified change and not all the rest of the code on the page?  It sounds like you think that the code is surgically changing specific code on its own and that it knows how to keep the code syntactically correct when it makes those changes.  Code can't think and it can't deliberately do anything.  It can only do as it's told...

LOL  Unless you believe that code can think and is "alive", you have to realize that it has no ability to do more than it was told to do.  Code is not intelligent and can't do anything more than it was instructed to do...

Nr, code doesn't change for you, I believe that, but with me ... a different story. I am refering to the output end of the code, the view can and does change, I see this often, like the underlined text. One paragraph at bottom was underlined like the rest, but next day it went away, go figure.

I think proper code is stable but code in error can cause strange things to happen, and some complicated codes can have problems with a lot of use. I think its not so much the code changes as it is the after affect changes. Meaning the code doesn;'t change but the outcome can change.

I am the one that was argueing with IX, they said what you say, code doesn't change, but I was seeing it change often when working with their site builder and slideshows. They said its my browser, its this or that and then I made a strong statement that brought out the truth. They told me, and you can go look at the ticket, told me that their code does in fact fall apart with a lot of traffic, and since I get a lot of traffic and since my site is so big they recomended I not use their sitebuilder at all and that I should use firstpage. I then gave them a 5 star rating for finally being honset. trust me, they didn't want to admit it but I had them cornered, the pages did fall apart and I showed them the pages to prove it. Most of my slideshows held up for a few days, but as soon as I put a cartoon slideshows on, which gets a lot of traffic, it didn't even last one day. when I went there next day the images were gone from viwer, all but 4. Then I went into sitebuilder and the slidshow page was all screwed up and out of order, unfixable. I must have had this problem on a daily bases, I deleted & rebuilt and rebuilt only to have them fall apart again.

Anyway NR I am glad you say that because it gives me confidence. Code shouldn't change if its right. Man I hope your right.

The new index doesn't have that navagation rb, and the reason it was on the left is because the dropdowns open on the right, so it required extra width on the right, and there was going to be more links to make it wider later. I still may use that type of nav, but I will not put it in until the page is finished so I can see if it affects the rest of the page.

One other note, that code checker I am using adjusts my code for me, and shows me errors or warnings. Without this checker organizer my codes would have many more problems, and could cause strange things to happen like text becoming underlined. I did find where that problem originated I think, sometimes I hit a key wrong and a dropdown menu appears in the middle of window which I quickly closed, and this is where I accidently clicked on a link in that menu causing things like all text to be underlined, (I am guessing). So maybe the navagation code is ok, I will see when I insert it after page is done and without error.

Dave are you using php?  Also those drop down boxes that you are using for your menu can be made smaller to fix under the menu title bar.  I can help you with that.  Then you can center the menu.  I think it would look much better to.

LOL I know its not but it sure can act like it is.  hysterical2

The code I am using easydownloader for most of the download files it is fine.  Then at times the images of one or two will disapear as well as the date going backward to 1969 also all the access count will be deleted.  This has been driving us crazy for over a year now.  We have asked the writer of the script and he has not been able to figure it out and says no one else using this code has had this problem.   dontknow
