I'm not finding what I need. I need to add buttons like above this text box I am writing in, I only have a few, the quote, code, B i u etc, but I can't find a list or info on how to add these. I want to post movies on my forum but I cannot. I want to embed youtube flash movies and post my own in my own format also. Does anyone know where I can find more info on this, or maybe tell me what the html tag is for movies?
I see flash above, I think need that. I saw in my forum admin I can add these tags, but I think these are added in my IX control panel to do it right.
I did find a list of html tags but I didn't see anything for movie embedding. Any insight on these html tags would be greatly appreciated. |

Fishead, the buttons you see over the posting window are placed there by installing a MOD. Nightrider would have to tell you what it's called and how to install it. He has posted a list of some of what we have installed if you would like to look:
http://4fxearth.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=128112
Somewhere Nightrider has a download section of MODs I think but since MODs are constantly being updated you would want the latest.
Doesn't YouTube usually show the code off to the side that you can use to post the movie on a web site or forum? Here is code to post a movie, you can see it in action in Test, I posted it yesterday. You an adjust the size in the code.
| Code:
|
|
<embed name="MediaPlayer" pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/" src="http://4fxearth.net/applications/GetAlong.wmv" width="176" height="190" type="application/x-mplayer2">
|
That code by the way in enclosed in "code" tages, the button is found at the top of the message box, without those tags it would be showing the movie.

Fishead, if you haven't already done so, you should install EasyMod on your board to make it easier to add MODs to it. I can help you with the install if necessary:
EasyMOD v0.3.0 released (for phpBB 2.0.x)
Then the first two MODs that you should install for your BBCodes is the Multi-BBCode and BBCode Organizer MODs. They can be found in the phpBB MOD Database under the BBCode link...
Once you have the Multi-BBCode and BBCode Organizer MODs installed, that will allow you to install as many BBCode MODs as you want and organize the BBCode panel to look like what we have here in RCF...
If you have any trouble with any of this, I would be happy to walk you through it. None of this is as difficult as it sounds...

Nr, I can follow directions but if they leave out parts, I am lost. Ok
where did they get this screenshot:
[img] [/img]
Guess 1: FTP, no looks nothing like that,
Guess 2. IX control panel directory - no, looks nothing like that
Guess 3: my computer? no, doesn't make sence
Guesss4: I haven't a clue. I wasted an hour trying to find where this is, so I am getting no where fast.
I get frustrated, not on the hard part but the simple basics, if they would just be clear about things. |

I gave up and just did it blindly, and when I went into cp to upload that way, I see easy mod already installed. I figure someone must have done it for me? If so, thanks! I think I will have more coffee before I try anything else.
rb- I tried to embed the flash but it didn't work in forum. It does work on my website, which is good.
I may need help but I will check it out some more. I have to babysit later today. |

Yes, you're right the movie code will not work on your board right now, I just tried. I think some file permissions need enabling in your ACP.
As for the EasyMOD ....
This is what the files look like on our FTP server. What he shows, in your SS above, as "your_forum_folder" is named "phpBB2" in our tree. You probably have the same folder unless you named it differently when installing your forum. If EasyMOD is installed on your board it should show up here. Does your FTP server show anything like this.
All the MODs you download will be placed in that mod folder (in bold type) before installing. First you download them to your HDD and unzip them, when you unzip a MOD a folder is created with that's MOD's name and that's the folder you place in the mod folder on the FTP server, same as you did the other day.

Fishead, the EM install files were uploaded to your server, but EM had not been installed yet. I went ahead and did that for you. I also installed the DHTML Menu for ACP, so you should be able to see it in action as soon as you enter your phpBB ACP...
Did you know that you are running a very old version of phpBB: 2.0.13? PhpBB 2.0.22 was just released. Since you have not installed any MODs yet, it might be worth replacing your current phpBB 2.0.13 files with the 2.0.22 files...

Nr, thanks for doing that for me. I just don't have enough time to get things done fast, so I appreciate the help.
I probably should go with the newer version, I will check it out and see how hard that is.
Right now I am trying to get some webpages up but a funny thing happens, these new pages disapear overnight, and the images in my folders also seem to like to disapear.
Sometimes I have to re-upload the images before they show up, but several times now they just disapear and I have to reload them.
I tried not using laptop to admin site to see if that is messing things up, but it is still messing up anyway.
I think either IX has been switching over to new hardware, or .... they have a lot of bugs. Today I am watching close, I check with browser to see when these pages disapear. It could be when I enter sitebuilder, I have choices - reopen to "continue to work on site" is where things seem to disapear when I click on that, so today I will not click on that, I will click on navigate and then try to save the website to folder before shutting down. This area is screwed up with ix. They even have a link that deletes your whole website right on front enter page. Then they have a delete button right next to publish. I haven't clicked the wrong one but it could happen. IX needs lots of work to do to get bugs out. I don't know about them now.
Anyway I am also trying to make a template in firstpage so I am so short on time. I appreciate any help. |
