Check out this site and note "What's New in Firefox 1.5.0.1", especially "Several security enhancements".
What's New in Firefox 1.5.0.1
Not sure what's happening here but my Firefox seems to be behind in updates but when I ask it to check on updates it tells me it is up to date. Anybody out there with Firefox that can help be figure this out?

Security update out for Firefox 1.5
Mozilla on Wednesday released an update for Firefox 1.5 that fixes several security flaws and makes other changes aimed at improving the open-source Web browser.
The update, Firefox version 1.5.0.1, patches a total of eight security vulnerabilities. One is deemed "critical" by Mozilla, four are rated "moderate" risk, and three are tagged "low" risk. The more serious flaws could let an attacker take over a system running a vulnerable version of Firefox, according to Mozilla's security alerts.
Among the issues tackled is a problem disclosed late last year, which concerns Web pages with an extremely long title that could cause Firefox to crash.

I picked up that update the other day. But I downloaded it from the Mozilla site, forgot that Firefox is supposed to be able to update from within itself. Maybe next time....
I dunno, RB, but maybe you have to have Firefox 1.5 in order for it to check for the incremental updates. There may not be any more for 1.0.x. |

Isn't Firefox 1.5 still a Beta application? That would explain why the 1.0.x versions of Firefox wouldn't know that there was an update. It would only update to release versions of the app...

| I thought Firefox 1.5 had gone gold. They have that as the default download on the home page. |

It's very possible. I don't follow the updates of Firefox as closely as I do Opera. I thought the official release of Firefox 1.5 was still months away but I could easily be wrong...

I installed the latest version of Firefox but am amazed that they don't include many of the add-ons and extras with the release version. Why should I have to download a hundred add-ons and extras to get it to work as good as Opera does straight out of the box???
