While playing games - it is so dark on my computer at times I have a total black screen. I have also noticed that everything on my computer is much more darker then my kids and hubby computers. How can I fix this? I have my monitor setting to the brightest it can go, and in the game options I also set the brightness to the highest it helps a little but not enough. Is there somthing else I should edit? Or does this mean my monitor is on its way out, it is about 8 years old. My video card is new got it last year - Nvidis Geforce FX 5500 with on board 256 ram

Jaddon, it really sounds like your monitor is dying. Eight years is pretty old for a monitor.
NOW is the time to get one of those jazzy new skinny ones!

| rb is right, but wouldn't hurt to wiggle cord behing pc, sometimes mine gets dark and that brings it back. I want a a skinny one too, as long as I can bolt it down, I have a trouble making cat. She messes with my keyboard when I'm not looking, always something. She hides things on me too. Little brat. |

Wow looks around, what a beautiful bright clear online world. Â  I have been living in the dark way to long! Â I am amazed how much of a difference all the colors look. Â 
This is great; I could not afford a jazzy new skinny one but did get a crt flat screen, going to take a little to get use to the flat screen. Â I love my new monitor! Â Click here to see my new monitor. Â

LOL young cats can be very active and crazy brats somtimes even worse then the kids. Â Mine use to do all that crazy in thier younger years, my female was a wild crazy gal, to the point I almost got rid of her, the vet recomened getting her a friend, then we found my male and it did keep her away from playing, stealing, and knocking my things down, she had him to play with instead. Â Try getting your cat a friend to play with. It helped me.
Mine still chase my mouse pointer once in a great while but once they hit 8 years old they start to calm down, now at 10 years old all they like to do is sleep, eat and be cuddled. Â Making up for lost time since when they where younger they never wanted to be cuddled to busy playing. lol
Now off to check out how my games look |

Yep hubby went after work and bought for me at best buy! We got the rebate will be sending it out tomorrow.  I showed him your post lol and said see they say my monitor is dying  So he bought me a new one.  heheheheeh Now he wants my monitor before his was better then mine and now I have the best one    |

| On the other computer we paid $380 AUS for a 17 inch flat screen. A mate of mine paid double that a few months earlier. |
