I have a problem that I think rb has solved for me in the past, but I sure don't remember the solution. Maybe others have had the same problem and corrected it too or are waiting to correct it...
I want to install a program, but this is what I see when I click on the install:
This happens for popular 32-bit programs, so the error message doesn't seem to match the problem. I sure would like to fix this again so that I can install these programs, one of which is WinPatrol...

Rb, that did the trick. That's the same fix we've had to do at least once, if not more times. I need to get an image with the fix in it so I don't have to go through that again. Thanks for your help...

Actually there is nothing to download so the type of Internet connection is not even a factor this time. In the Winnt/repair folder, the 3 possibly missing files are stored. So to fix the problem, these files need to be copied into the System32 folder and all is well in the world again. Why W2K isn't smart enough to take the files from the repair folder and store them in the System32 folder when they are missing is beyond me. That is just as easy for the OS to do as throwing a vague error message...

Since I knew that you solved this once before and remembered that it wasn't difficult to fix, I knew if you could remember again, things would be back to normal in no time at all. I love solutions that are this easy...
