K, now that I know what I'm looking for I did a bit of a search and found this free one with several theme. Anybody can use it. The birds are cute but I would still prefer the map. I wonder if this can be configured to be assessable only to members?
A guestmap is just like a guestbook. with the difference that a visitor can pick an icon, and the position where to place this icon to which he, or she attaches a message.
Unlike guestbooks, guestmaps have only been around for a few years. Until now guestmaps have been rather boring, a map with some tiny icons, and a message on it. C00L GuestMap 2 brings this a whole new level, it uses some of the most cutting edge techniques available on the internet today, yet still works with some browsers that are over 4 years old.
The guestmap does not require any Java, or Flash plug-ins to be installed.
That map looks better than Frapper I tried to use. In Frapper I had put my pin in then another girl came in and pinned the same city and mine was gone. She only used to live here years ago.

I looked at the Frapper maps. I like their graphic better but that's about all. They take forever to load and they are hard to move with the mouse to another part of the world. I don't know why they don't provide a scroll bar, would be lots better.
