dido that, I loaded my site builder in laptop ok, so it is my harddrive or mother board. Eitherway, i am outof business for a long time till I can afford a new pc or harddrive and motherboard.

I wish there was a way to test the hd or mb so I wouldn't have to buy both, which costs so much I may have to hang it up and start woodworking again or something. I wish I could do art on my laptop, but I can't.

Thanks ella. I have good news, I was in HP help, and found how to test hardware. I ran test on cpu and its OK! I ran other tests and when I got to harddrive it couldn't run the test, meaning my HD is fried.

This is great news if its right. I will run to staples as soon as they open looking for a 160 gig HD. Then its a few more days of getting updates after installing windows. I feel better now. I was leaning toward HD failure anyway. I already replaced one on here, so not new to it. Its really hard to get to, have to remove all the drives.

It's beginning to sound good, Dave. I too hope the test was accurate and a new HDD will put you on the road to recovery. Did you notice any unusual noise from your HDD lately? Sometimes there is a bit of warning that the HDD is going bad and other times it just dies.

I'm glad you are now feeling a bit better about the situation. When you can feel some peace and accomplishment you can also think better.

Keeping my fingers crossed and throwing up a few prayers.

I am running! It was my graphics card.

I bought a 300 gig hD but didn't put it in. I took pc outside to blow it out and noticed a burn mark on the g card, so I replaced that and all is fine.. There may have been a wire resting on it. I think I'll keep the Hdrive as a backup.

So its over and I am a lot smarter about my pc. Getting ready to install roxio 8 now. I posted a toon, but don't have any new made yet.

Wonderful, fishead!

Now see, if you would have taken the graphic card out and reseated it like I suggested in email you would have seen that burn mark on it. Like I said most times it's something simple. However, I know what's it like when you're all upset and stressed out I've been there. You think the worst and it gets hard to think logically.

You kept saying that your site is dead because your PC was fried. Do you host your site on your home PC or do you have a host where you use their servers? If the latter, then even if your PC is down, your site is still alive. After all you have done on it, I would hate to see something happen to your site...

Do you make good images of your partitions on your HDD? If you do, if the bottom falls out and if you do lose a HDD, you can restore the image if you have stored it either on another PC or burned it to DVD. It usually only takes a few minutes to restore an image. That sure beats installing everything from scratch on a new HDD...

I am smarter, I have a better empire game with new features, my pc has a real snap to it, I don't have to fill out every form anymore (my pc user problem fixed) = this problem was a good thing in the long run. I have no regrets and didn't lose hardly anything because I back up every two weeks.

nr, when I said "lose my site" I mean, its like a living thing that stopped breathing, no new toons or art = dead.

My website host has the power base, I download the website builder software, which is huge, and I keep image files in my pc to match theirs. It takes 30 minutes to download software and 6 hours to match up images, my files with theirs.
