Nightrider is correct, IX were extremely nice from day one and when we left them after one month they were as nice as they could be. My domain name was free when we signed up with them, however, when we left I of course had to pay for my domain name because it was mine and I would continue to use it elsewhere. Access to it was in their control panel and they told me exactly what I would have to do to change my domain address when we went with Cinerhost.
I have had access to my domain name and the settings in the IX control panel all these years. When it came time to renew the domain name I went to the IX control panel to do it. When we returned to IX I just changed the settings from Cinerhost to IX and we were good to go.
Also when we left IX they said all our stuff would remain intact for 30 days in case we decide to come back there would be no problem doing so. If they had not been that nice I'm sure we would not have gone back to them.
I still don't know why it took so long for pages to load for NR at the time, we were both on dial up at the time and they loaded for me very fast. This time there was no problem at all.
I do find their admin slower then powwebs was but that in miner.
Two of my 4 sites are based on downloads and with powwebs new php download time limit of only 60 secs it was causing many problems for my guest. Guest on dial up could not download files more then 2 mbs and and even dsl users had trouble. With IX's 5 min max limit I can now download the biggest file on my site which is just over 13mbs with no problems.
I am still waiting on the email that powweb "claims" they are sending me with the info to transfer my domains over to IX. She said I should get the email within 24 hours well this afternoon it will be 48

Jaddon, I've been thinking .. (usually a bad sign but I just can't stop myself, lol)
If you got your domaim names FREE when you signed up with PowWeb then you will have to pay for them if you leave. That is probably what Tucows was talking about. When you leave PowWeb you take your domian names with you, they are asigned to you and neither Tucows or PowWeb can give them to anyone else. They were free for you to use while you were with PowWeb but if you leave you have to pay for them.
That's what I had to do when I left IX. Mine is $20 though. Now that I'm back with IX I won't have to pay a yearly fee, they will once again be free to use.
Pay Tucows for the domian names. They are right in asking to be paid for them. I don't understand why PowWeb didn't explain that to you.
I paid for them RB $30 bucks each The lady I spoke to at powweb said that there was not a lock on them it shows that I did pay for them so there should not be a problem there. I also still have my emails that show that my payment was received for them.

There is not a block and you should be able to get to them but you can't?? Maybe have Blake take a look and see if he can find them to change the address.
I found on the tuscow site that you can sign onto your profile to manage your domains so I signed in and was able to change them from there so there I showed powweb who is boss!
We should be able to change it in the powweb admin control area but every time I tried it would not work and default back to powweb. After many hours on the phone with them getting the run around as always I decided to check out tucscow and was able to make the changes vie them.
I can't get over it! They called me asking me if I wanted them to transfer my domains back to them! It was the same guy I had spoken to early who told me to change it vie their control panel. He kept asking me how I did it! I lied - told him I did it the way he told me to vie the cp. LOL I could tell he did not believe me and was very confussed on how I did it since he kept asking me questions about how I did it. Sneaky since he knows it can not changed in the cp and thinks I don't know that.
Good thing I changed my password and the tech info to IX and replaced powweb tech suport email with mine. He started asking me about my passwords and gave me the old ones wanting confirm them. I let him think that they where still the same passwords. Well I had a feeling he was trying to get in to change them back - since he asked me a few times about my passwords. After I received an email from tuscow they requested my passwords but since I changed the addy the email came to me instead of them.
Anyway I reported them to the BBB they have no right doing this I paid for both of those domains!
I did have a warning since other customers who left them had problems getting their domains.
Not long after they closed my acct with them even thow I did ask them not to for 3 days so my site would not have any down time. Guess they where mad at me. I don't know why they kept my money so its not like they lost out on any!

I can't believe what turds PowWeb are!! Don't they know that will get around? You really should write and post a review, would be helpful to those considering a web host. Blake and I had run across some pretty bad reviews concerning PowWeb but as I've mentioned before you find some bad reviews about all of them sooner or later if you look long enough. Depends on the experience of course.
I'm glad Tucows was at least decent. When you said you got your domain names from them I figured going to them would be the solution. I think the name Tucows was probably one of the first I became familiar with when I first started using the PC. They have been around a long time and I've always considered them reputable.
