which version of Pegasus do I get

I think you should go with Pegasus Mail v4.41 for Windows, 32-bit for Win98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista

I know so far, I do not like Eudora's set-up nor functionalability
|
Me either. I tried it for a while and found it very complicated and missing some features I really like. Next to Netscape Communicator (which is being thrown to the dogs by AOL) I like Thunderbird the best. I've always avoided OE because of the security issue. I'm very happy with Thunderbird.

| Yeah OE can be crappy but I have not had a bad run in a GOOD bit and I hope it stays that way too. Well, I am off to install the one you suggested. Keep ya fingers crossed Lady Rose. |

Ok, me back. The 32 bit was soo pretty and so much easier BUT the second toolbar kept falling UNDER the mailbox window. Oh, the BBC is inserted on ANOTHER TAB??? YIKES and YUCK. I'd rather it be neslted on the ame creation window but again, we'll see. Anyhow, I could not get that darned thing to work right at all. So I uninstalled it, restarted system and installed the 16 bit. YUCK it looks gosh awful. So since I really liked the 32, I am going to go on the support forum and see what's what.
It might end up that Eudora is it but we shall see. I have time so....

Yep, sound like Eudora may be the lesser of two evils. LOL
There must be some tweaking you can do with Pegasus (actually both programs) to make them more user friendly. So many people wouldn't be using the programs if they had to deal with what came "out of the box" for you.

Well, I shutdown the PC and logged in again Lady Rose. Then I shutdown my virus program and re-installed Pegasus 32 again. It remembered some of my prior install info and I even found SOME workarounds. Now Eudora's tool bar is very customizable as you can drag n drop icons needed nor not needed here and there. Not in Pegasus but it does over different toolbar views which looked to only be 2 instead of the 4 they have listed.
There's more features to play with in Pegasus and therefore require more time to play with them. Took me a good few to understand why the mail was not moving. It needed POP log-in. OOOOOOOOOOH.... anyhow, seems I have tweaked it for now. It has a new mail notifier that is either the pegasus in your system tray (several more options here) AND/OR floating "telltail" window which me likes. I am going to screencap it as it is so you can see it.
So far, I like it a tad better but who knows what will happen when I actually START using it. |

Sounds like you're doing a good job of investigating both of them. I'm sure you will end up with the best one for you.
I really like the looks of Pegasus according to what I see from your Screen Shots

It has the 3 most important features to me so right off the bat it's a winner as far as I'm concerned. LOL
