That's because when you bought them they were build for XP and had all the necessary drivers included. The machine you're working on was built for Vista and doesn't have the drivers for XP (most likely). Sooooooo .... you will need to install drivers that are computable with XP.
It isn't all that hard, Dave. It will just take a little time. First off you need to get on the internet so lets find drivers for the internet card that came with that PC. See my post above.

I installed VGA. I am happy with this xp already. I have all my updates and I'm installing programs with no problems at all. It's now a user friendly computer.  
Oh ya, the windows registering and authenticating went fine. |

| Getting drivers was a pain, I had to use HP chat to get them since my pc number has vista and not xp, and they said they don't recomend and after giving me the updates he just hung up without saying anything, lol. Any I'm installing them now and thats going to take awhile. |
