Hey Nr, if you want to upgrade to newer version of phpbb forum for me, go ahead. I am willing to risk losing everything at this point, not worried about it.
I am more worried about getting my website up and running for now. Its a lot of boring work, I have to get image urls, and then publish a ton of pages with images to get the page urls, all this for making index page codes, and this takes a lot of time, especially since I learn as I go for the most part. |

I don't know if this will help with your images are not, not sure what your goal is, but you can upload all your images to your site using FTP and get the URL for each image very easily.
Make a folder named "images" and you can add subfolders for different catagories to seperate your images and even add folders to the catagories to seperate you images even more. See the left side of the Screen Shot below.
You may already have your images organized on your HDD, you can use the same folder names on the FTP server. Matter of fact you can just upload the folders from your HDD to FTP, place them all in the image folder you created
When you use one of the pictures (in this case one named Teapots.jpg) get the URL the way I showed you before, see the right side of the Screen Shot below. Place your cursor on the image you want a URL for and right click. From the menu you get, choose Copy URL and then click on Path. In this case the URL you would get is:
/4fxearth.net/images/blake/computer/Teapots.jpg
Just add http:/ in front of it. I think this may be a lot easier and quicker in the long run then what you are doing

Rb, I will try that, I may be able to save some steps, but I still have to insert all these image urls into the page code. Getting the urls isn't too hard but I have to add the full size images, one per page for wallpaper sizes, so I have to link these in the page code also. See all this copy and paste takes lots of time. I could probably use one image for thumb and full size but I had trouble with that is homestead and I am just using thumb size for thumbnails. Thats no biggy but its work=time.
I saw where I have a new mod already, thats great nr. I will be going back to the forum work soon, I just need a base for a website going first.
I found out I have trouble with cookies/temp files by working on two websites. I think I will have to clear/delete every time I work on on. I published a few pages on old site today and now I don't see the changes on laptop. eyes roll, oh well, at least I know what all the disapearing files are from. I think I should use ftp more, maybe that would help keep order. |

Fishead, your forum is now updated to phpBB 2.0.22. Let me know if you notice any problems with it...

OK NR, I will check it out, thanks!
Rb, here is the page where I am adding the links. The thumbs aren't linked yet and the navagation only has a few hooked up.

Now I have to clear temp files and delete cookies before I open either site builder. Otherwise things don't get published right. I was in both this morning and all is well, both publihed just fine.
That will be a big help rb, the using ftp to upload images instead of sitebuilder. I do have all my pics in different folders in my site CP, but I am finding duplicates, like I have two cartoon folders. I will just upload the whole website image archive and be done with it. I am kind of worried about subfolders, I had a problem but that may have been the temp files/cookie problem. I will try uploading them all and see what happens. |

Yes, you're right the movie code will not work on your board right now, I just tried. I think some file permissions need enabling in your ACP.
|
I am in cp and I don't see where I can enable file permissions. Could you offer another clue?
I'm back again, I looked everywhere in CP and forum admin and I cannot find where I can turn on anything that will let me post movies, embed movies, or anything. I also looked in phpbb help and in their search there is no movie code info. Nothing. I guess its a mod, and buried somewhere very deep. |

That is a VERY nice page, fishead! Are you going to put Forum in the menu at the top?

Apparently that is a MOD you have to install, fishead, it doesn't come with the phhbb2 software. Don't know the name of it, NR will have to help you with that. But it's a neat MOD, allows members to post all kinds of neat stuff. Or whatever you allow.

I know how you feel, fishead, but most of the frustrations comes from not understanding what you have to work with. With coding and the help of a site builder you can create just about any type web page on your site you want but with the phpbb2 software it's different.
It really does come bare bones. You add what you want. That is why this type software is so popular, you can make it look like and do what you want. There are tons of MODs out there to add functions and utilities and those you can even modify yourself to look different. Which is what I'm finding out now.
There are also many forums devoted to discussing phpbb2 from which one can learn a lot and get help for just about any kind of problem. The people running those forums are really very knowledgable.
