I'm confused, Bobby.  Did you boot up with the CD?  What you are showing looks like Windows to me.  I don't think you booted up with the CD.

That Memory Diagnostic utility fits on a floppy, do you have a floppy drive?

After creating the floppy disk or CD-ROM, you must restart your computer with the disk or CD-ROM on which you installed Windows Memory Diagnostic in the disk drive. After you restart your computer, Windows Memory Diagnostic loads and its interface appears. After loading, the first test pass begins and continues until complete, unless you pause or exit Windows Memory Diagnostic. Once the first test pass is complete, Windows Memory Diagnostic begins a second test pass using the same settings as before. Windows Memory Diagnostic continues to run test passes until you exit it.

Be sure to remove the floppy disk or CD-ROM on which you installed Windows Memory Diagnostic when you finish using it. Otherwise, Windows Memory Diagnostic, and not Windows, will start again after your computer is rebooted.

I first printed out the Memory Diagnostic utility users guide.  Then I put a CD into my "D" drive and clicked on Download Memory Diagnostic.  I then put this CD with the Memory Diagnostic utility on it into my "D" drive.  I then clicked on Start > Turn off computer > cancel and waited.  What I got next was what is shown in the included ScreenShot.  Right now I'm going around in small circles.  I keep telling my PC that the Memory Diagnostic Utility is supposed to come up but it won't do it.

Yes I do have a floppy drive but only Mrs. Bobby knows where my blank floopy discs are and I'm not going to wake her up an ask her where they are.  I can give you our phone number and you can call her right now and ask her for me.  Then post to me where she said they are.  OK?

I value my life too much to do that.

Not sure you can can create a bootable CD from the site.  If I'm understanding the instructions in you SS you need to download the file to your HDD (which is an IMAGE) and THEN burn a bootable CD.  An image won't boot up your PC

I think you CAN create a bootable floppy from the site.

Right now it appears you don't have a bootable CD.

To run Windows Memory Diagnostic, you must reboot your computer with the disk or CD-ROM on which you installed Windows Memory Diagnostic in the drive. After the reboot, Windows Memory Diagnostic will load and its interface will appear. After loading, the first test pass will begin, using the default standard test suite, and continue until complete, unless Windows Memory Diagnostic is either paused or exited. Once the first test pass is complete, Windows Memory Diagnostic will begin a second test pass using the same settings as before. Windows Memory Diagnostic will continue to run test passes until you exit.

Windows Memory Diagnostic User Guide
Download Windows Memory Diagnostic

Are you saying that this part of the instructions is not true?  You are saying that only a floppy can be created to reboot with?  As soon as my Floppy Locator (Mrs. Bobby) rises I will ty downloading the Memory Diagnostic Utility to a floppy and see if that works.  If you, Green Lady Guru, have any enlightenment to bestow on me please BESTOW AWAY!  The scales of confusion and ignorance are trying to impede my PC education.  Like Cody, that ever-stareing Lab that I once had, I will be perched here staring at my PC awaiting any more enlightenment.

I don't have a new floppy disc so I tried writing over a used on but it said thast it was full and that I should insert an unused one.  I thought that a floppy disc could be written over.  Can the data on a floppy be erased?

Insert your used floppy in the drive, after it loads right click it and choose Format.

The instructions are correct.  It's just that you never installed Windows Memory Diagnostic on your CD.

After you download it from the site to your HDD there are TWO ways to install it, directly to a floppy OR if you want to create a CD first you create an image on somewhere on your HDD and THEN burn IT to a CD.

OK  I finally got a floppy reformatted and D/L the Windows Memory Diagnostic utility to it.  I ran the tool ans was told that I had nor errors o the first pass.  I'll read the rest of the User's Guide later and look into more extensive test options.  Thanks for your help.
