| This version of AShanpoo Burning Suite 7 just came out on May 7th and I D/L it and tried it. It is super simple and user friendly and is quick to burn/copy files , CDs, DVDs with. I have several other burnong applications but this is my favorite. Thanks to a freind of mine I recovered my Nero that I lost when my HDD went dead a while back but I like AShampoo better. I bought the AShampoo Burning Suite 6 a week before version 7 came out at a reduced price of $19.95 which guaranteed me the upgrade to version 7 when it came out. I think that version 7 has gone back up to $49.95 now though. |

Trying out the Try Out version. I do like the interface and from first glance it looks like I would like it a lot. Time will tell.
Burned a movie, an .avi, that was one of the acceptable formats, but it won't play in anything. Not in PC DVD players or my DVD player in the living room.
I think it has to be .vob before it plays in ANY DVD player but I thought it would at least play on the PC but it won't. Yet it said it was successful. Took about an hour for a 20 minute movie.
I'm going to convert the .avi to vob using Super (which is free) and see what happens. If I convert .avi to vob then Nero will burn a DVD that will pay in anything.
I'll keep you informed.

OK so far I've wasted several hours and right now Nero is burning my DVD.
I converted the .avi to .vob using Super but AShampoo wouldn't accept it, I think it wanted other files with it. It just sat there for a while and then closed.
It didn't even say good bye.
OK so using DVDFlick (another great little free program) I had the .avi turned into a DVD compatable file. You know the type, two folders Audio_TS and Video_TS. The Video_TS is the one with all the good stuff.
Anyway I chose the proper option in AShampoo, pointed it to the needed folder, it even said the folder would probably be named Video-TS .. put the blank DVD in the tray and told it to go for it! And it just sat there and sat there and sat there with the little red light blinking on the drive icon like it was waiting for me ... and here I'm waiting for it ... all buttons except Back are grayed out so I can't do anything more until it does. Finally I just shut it down and opened Nero!!
The burning just now finished and I'm going to test it out on the DVD player in my living roon .... now don't go anywhere, I'll be right back.
YAHOOOOO!!! SUCCESS!
I guess I just don't know how to use AShampoo. Sorry, Bobby.
You really need to download and install DVDFlick:
DVD Flick aims to be a simple but at the same time powerful DVD Authoring tool. It can take a number of video files stored on your computer and turn them into a DVD that will play back on your DVD player, Media Center or Home Cinema Set. You can add additional custom audio tracks as well as subtitles of your choice.
You just can't beat these free open source programs with a stick!! I love them!

NO! Click Download on the left of the page I linked to and then on the next page press the Download DVD Flick button.

| What will DVDFlick do that Nero 7, DVDShrink, DVDFab Decrypter, DVD Decrypter or Ashampoo won't? I already have these installed on my PC and know they will do what I want to do. Are you saying that DVD Flick is better than these? If so, why did you just use Nero to burn a DVD with? |

I just had DVD Flick create the DVD compliant files from an .avi file to see if AShampoo would accept that since it didn't accept the .vob. But it didn't accept those either so I just used Nero.
When preparing your movie if you leave everything unchecked in the Burning section it will just put the encoded files in a folder for you. OR you can check Burn to Disk and have it burn the DVD for you.
What I like about this little program, and it looks like something a six year old put together, it does SO much so easily. Just look at all the type files it will turn into DVD complient files. AND burn the disk if you want. But you might want to encode several movies and then burn them all to one disk.

SUPER is another free program I would not be without. It also converts. Sometimes one is better suited for what you want to do than the other. I LOVE SUPER!

LOL You may have to follow your nose through several pages before you ever actually get the download button but it's worth it! I guess they want to make sure you read all about it. And there is LOTS.

You didn't answer my questions. I'm still waiting. I don't burn many DVDs. Most of my burning is to CDs and Ashampoo is much simpler than what i've previously been using. I didn't realize that you copy that many movies. What do you do with your movies and where do you get them from? |

In one word ... convert. Encode. If Nero does that I don't know about it, I find Nero rather confusing.
Seems every time I want to do something with a movie it's different from the last time. This, what I was working on today, were some excerise videos I downloaded from the Operah Winfrey website for a friend and the format was .avi. So just go from there and tell me what you would do with them to get them onto a DVD that would auto start and play on ANY DVD player. Any program would make a DVD out of the .avi files but it would only play on a PC. With AShampoo it wouldn't play anywhere, even on the PC.
Other movies are copies of my VCR tapes (VHS). In addition to making copies I also want to take out clips to share and also remove parts I didn't want on the finished DVD. So first I had to put the movie on my HDD so I could edit. Then it was job to turn them back into a DVD when I had them they way I wanted them
It's been some experience for sure. Like I said each project seems to be different and needs different tools than the last. SUPER has been a life saver.
And Oh yes! There are a lot of editing tools/programs, and Nero is suppose to be one but it and I have never seen eye to eye on that editing part, all I ever got there was a headache. The BEST editing tool, at least for my need, has been ChopperXP! And yes it's FREE!!!!

Another one you may have to search around for a download but worth it. It is no longer being developed but it works great.
