A friend of mine messaged me yesterday asking about her icons most of them were the plain white boxes with blue border , then said she didnt know what had happened but her brother and sister both had used her computer while she was at work and when she got home the icons looked like that and she said her computer was running soooooooo slow , she then told me she tried a restore and that didnt fix anything then while we were talking she disappeared lol when she got back she told me her computer rebooted on its own and the following message appeared
RTHDCPL.EXE Illegal System DLL Relocation , The System DLL user32.dll
was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly, The relocation occured because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an adress range reserved for WINDOWS system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL, I searhed around and found out microsoft has a patch for this problem , I'm just curious if anyone else has had this happen and knows the cause , from what i have read it only happened to most ppl after windows update ,Thanks |

Wonder what OS she has? Probably XP. No, I have not had that happen to me, sounds scary. Does she have her PC set to update automatically? It could be because of an update. My first thought was a virus or Trojan, who knows where her brother and sister went on the web. LOL
So did she get it fixed do you know?

| Yea after she got it, I read up on it and seems to be quite the problem for alot of people , automatic updates may be fine for some but thats one reason I dont enable mine I just check once a week or so and grab the ones I choose |

I don't auto update either, I too like to wait a few days and read the boards looking to see if others are having any problems first.
