I have not yet applied this patch. I was waiting to hear about results first. I'm glad I did!
Thousands of Microsoft customers are running into problems understanding and applying the myriad Microsoft Daylight Saving Time (DST) patches required in order to keep their Windows, Exchange Server and other systems up-to-date when DST takes effect on March 11.
Microsoft's online DST chat room — which Microsoft is currently keeping open from 6 a.m. PST to 9 p.m. PST to handle customers' questions — is full of customers who can't get their DST patches to work. Microsoft support phone lines are jammed with users with DST problems.
"The workstation patches are easy, the stand alone Outlook tool is no big deal. If you're running Exchange and you try to run the Exchange update tool 930879, good luck. It's a crap shot," said Microsoft customer Paul Marsh.
"I was requested to call Microsoft support because of my particular problem," Marsh said. "I called Microsoft support. I was 117th in the queue and was informed the wait was 3 hours. I waited 4 hrs and 45 minutes but no one ever picked up. If I hear Microsoft hold music again I think I'll go mad. The bottom line is 'Hello Microsoft! There is a problem!' and we have something like 42 hours to figure this out."
LOL This may be anther reason why I didn't apply the patch!!
Users with Windows 2000, Exchange 2000 and Exchange 5.5 — products that are no longer in mainstream support and thus are no longer covered under standard Microsoft support agreements are realizing that they need to pay Microsoft $4,000 in order to obtain DST patches for these products.

Ubuntu includes more than 16,000 pieces of software, but the core desktop installation fits on a single CD. Ubuntu covers every standard desktop application from word processing and spreadsheet applications to web server software and programming tools.
Impressive! I just can't see myself using anything other than Windows, I guess because it's the only OS I have ever used. Like most people I don't welcome change too often. However, I've been thinking ... that's usually a sign for everybody to clear the area ....... LOL
I have several PCs around here I don't see why I can't experiment with this Ubuntu thing. Might be fun and like Nightrider is fond of saying will keep me out of trouble. Now watch me get into trouble!
Thanks for posting this, doG, you got my interest. Are you using this OS? I need to know someone I can bug with questions if I load this thing up. Does it look ANYTHING like Windows or will I be completely lost when it boots up? If I can get it to boot up ...............

You can get Ubuntu 6.06 LTS from http://www.ubuntu.com/products/GetUbuntu/download?action=show&redirect =download and burn it to a CD. This CD will boot into Ubuntu Linux for you to use and play with without installing anything on your computer, it's a LiveCD. If you do decide you want to install it there is an installer on the CD.
You will be pretty overwhelmed the first time you use Linux. It is a different operating system but there's a lot of the interface that has copied Windows so you won't be completely lost.
I'm not currently running Linux full time since I have some work apps that have me strapped to Windows most of the time but I frequently boot Linux from a LiveCD to use a few Linux apps I like. When I get my other box put back together it will get Linux again. |

Well geezzzzzzzzzzzz! I set Ubuntu 6.06 to downloading, said it would take over 5 hours, I left for about 3 hours, came back and only 7 percent had downloaded and Netscape was AWOL. Earlier I had downloaded version 6.10 and it took under an hour and there was no problem at all.
Burning the version 6.10 right now, don't want to mess with the 6.06 again right now.

Trying the 6.06 download again. After trying about 6 or 7 defferent download sites I found one that seems to be reasonable in how much time it takes.

Yep, totally agree. I'm looking forward to the day when Linux becomes the dominant OS...

Nightrider have you downloaded and burned 6.06? I now have both versons burned to CDs and sitting here on my desk neatly next to each other.
What do I do now? Can I just put 6.06 in my tray with the PC already on and it will load or do I need to boot up with it in the tray?
