The link to burn a bootable cd was in the tools menu. All set, ready to partition I guess.

Do you have the tools to partition your HDD? Before doing that, I would defrag the partition first. It's probably not necessary, but that's something I have always done to be on the safe side...

Once you have successfully created your boot CD, you can uninstall TrueImage from Windows. You won't really need it there any longer. Just make sure that your boot CD works first before uninstalling TrueImage...

I'm putting this on my video pc too and it has an 2nd internal hd. Now how do I get this image on there? If I uninstall TI, I would have to use the cd to get this image on my 2nd hd? Shouldn't I just leave it installed on pc and do it from there? I see it has a backup and restore option, isn't this how to get the image?

Well I chose to backup "system state not working files and folders" into 2nd hd, It was successful, says 207 mb for .tib file. I hope this is right. I have about 200 gigs of video so don't have room for a complete backup right now.

I know Blake is helping you and I don't want to interfer, just wanted to throw in an opinion.

Dave I would choose Disks and Partitions. Then on the next screen choose the C: drive. Image the entire partition. It will be around 4GB compressed. Depending on how much you have on that partition. That way should anything happen to your OS you can just restore the entire partition and never miss a beat.

IF you want to just image (backup) certain folders and files only you can do that too but nothing beats an entire partition in case of system failure.

Thats my video computer rb, it has about 200 gigs on there right now. Maybe if I used an external hd I would have room if the files were compressed. I may try that tomorrow.

I imagine that the image for 200 GB of data would be pretty large. It may span into several image tib files of 4 GB each. I have never tried to create an image for a partition that had that much data on it. Video files may compress much better than program files though, so it will be interesting to see what you will end up with as far as the number/size of your image files turns out to be once you have a destination large enough to handle it...

I don't think I'll even try if they are broke into 4 gig segments. The thing is, these files are being changed because I plan to work on the dvd soon, so it would be nearly impossible to keep a fresh backup. I do have these videos backed up anyway on an external hd.
