Well I don't like the idea of having another bar on my browser but this is a must have. I got another attack day before yesterday. I downloaded it and using it. Need it on all my pc's.

It won't let me install it on other pc since I am using AVG AV. I have to install AVG 8.5, I am doing that now. I hope its ok, and not a trial version or something. At first I was shown a trial version and had to close and re-find the free version. 11 minute download. It said to do it on top of previous version so thats what I'm doing.

AVG LinkScanner  has proven to be a big headache for me!  First it wouldn't install, said there was no program to uninstall! ...???

Tried again and it installed but it won't update, says to check connection.  My internet connection is fine.  After about 30 minutes of clicking around I did find the forum for AVG but so far nothing they say helps me any.  I'm not using AVG Virus Scanner but I don't think that has anything to do with it.  AVG Link Scanner is free standing.

It's installed and working I guess but don't know how I'll get it updated.

Mine did that too, wouldn't let me update but as I was posting in here about it it started working. All I did was shut it down and reopened it and tried again.

I was having other problems but rebooting fixed that. The only remaining problem I have is the download box for ffox opens when I open the broswer but I can live with that. so its working good on all three computers. it also ran a scan of my pc and found 2 spywares why it let me remove.

edit= oh ya, the update wouldn't work in that ff window where it seems to sit, so I closed that and clicked on the sys tray icon and it updated ok that way.

I couldn't get it to update no matter what I did.  That's ok though, I uninstalled it, Avast does about the same thing as this program anyway.  It might work better if I had AVG installed.

Katy said when she downloaded and installed AVG 8.5 the AVG Link Scanner came with it??  Didn't you say above that you had to upgrade to AVG8 on one of your machines?  When you did, did the Link Scanner come with it?

Downloaded avg 8.5, it uninstalled avg 7 for me. Rebooted. At 9pm it started a scan and found "potentially harmful hack tool". Opened avg to see more about this and I saw that update error, database outdated, cannot update. So I clicked on the left panel where it says update, and it did infact update and now the error is removed and it says updated success.
