You will need to partition and format it.
BUT, first you need to go into BIOS, unless you can do it the Disk Management, change it from 0 to 1 or Windows may try to boot from it. The main HDD should be 0. HDD are numbered 0, 1, 2, 3 etc. I learned this the hard way!!
Might be best to do this in BIOS

Oh I see, I need to partition it now. That won;t be easy, sounds complicated.
The drive is now initialized. You should now be able to create a partition and format it. For instructions on how to create and format a partition,.... |

I missed your post and already rebooted and just closed the pc down for the day, I just now finished babysitting, it takes all my time and hard to do anything.
So how do I change the bios? |

Great! You're doing fine.
How big is the drive? I would make at least two partitions on it. Oh I see 160GB. Even 3 partitions might be a good idea. Lable each one (Name) so you can tell each from the other, you can rename them later if you want.
BIOS ...? Not sure on your PC but on mine I press the DEL key soon as the PC starts up. Before it finishes the Post pages. You may have to Google your machine to find out exactly how to get to BIOS. Sometimes it's called Setup.

I'm in bios and its not letting me change anything. When 1st drive is highlighted, I press enter and get a screen with info and I can't change or even navagate, all I can do is esc.
When I go in 2nd drive I don't get much further, I can do tests and a couple things but don't see where to change the number or move it up or anything.
Nevermind I found how to do it, I moved them, now it is rebooting, I'm kind of sweating with worry, this stuff is new to me. It booted up ok.
Now I guess I am ready to partition, oh boy. |
