Do you shut down all the way like I do or do you go a step further and unplug your PC as some of my friends do?... And what do you recommend?

Most often I just shut down. I press down the Power Supply button to make sure the monitor, printer, speakers and other stuff is shut off however the cable modem and router are on another plug and they stay on.  I don't unplug.

My main pc is on a wall switch that kills the power, my vista I turn off the power supply and my laptop I only shut down. The laptop scares me, I don't like to leave it on while not in sight because I've heard they can start on fire while running.

I'm the lone one here as I ONLY power down/shut off when I need to. I just disconnect from the net. For the PC, I disable the modem/router. For the lappy, I remove the adapter card. And this is why MD saw a severe price hike in Electric. Never-the-less and thanks to The Almighty, no fires nor burnt units either.

Well often times my PC is on 24/7. I will have it defragging, running a virus scan or creating an image while I sleep.  I have 2 HDD and 9 partitions so it takes a lot of time to do any of those.  There have been many times I've left the PC with a bunch of open windows while I watch a bit of TV in another room and I go to sleep, the PC stays on all night just as I've left it.

I know,  have both set to do all it's cleaning, washing, scraping, etc. task while I'm away too. With a crazy schedule like mine, sometimes I catch something about to start and halt it because I want to go online or whatever.

I do have to remember to shut the lid on the lappy if in the living room as one fur child thinks it's a heating pad or something. I've come back and 10 windows were open as it he tried to use the lappy himself. (WOW)
