The problem is lack of choice. I followed one news lead in there and said illinois decided to go with windows servers instead of linux because they needed something they could count on. I don't think vista is fixable, so its wait for the next windows os because there isn't anything else thats affordable or comparable. I think xp will be around longer than ms thinks. They should stick with what works and quit tryin to revelutionize things when they already have something that works.

I think people pay for operating systems, and yet ms makes them buy new instead of upgrading. Thats a rip off. Ms needs to be managed by courts because they lost touch with reality thinking everyone is stealing from them when they already paid too much. Like me, I bought a w98, a windows xp, and windows vista, I have my sons xp and yet I am only using two and I would only be using one if vista was a broken product. So wheres my re-embursement or credit for upgrading since some of those PCs are no longer used? We shouldn't have to resort to using substandard to get around ms's problems with imagined os theft. They are insane.

I found a link but the it's in .doc format and must be a humdinger because Word Perfect won't even load it. But they do offer an HTML format

I think this was when they went from Macintosh to Windows. At one time most if not all schools had only Apple computers.

NR, a lot of people have a deep hatred of ms, and I'm one of them and probably hate them more than you. The subject can't even be discussed rationally because peoples hatred could be aimed at anyone not agreeing on how bad they are, or how bad other os are compared with. Non the less, I will keep an open mind about things. First off, ms sucks but xp is a great os, bar none. Now talking about linux, that all sounds fine but I wouldn't try to convince others to use it or BUY it without using it myself. So I go by what I hear and read, and I am not hearing about it being better than xp, quite the opposite. They have a long way to go and may never equal ms or xp.

So some businesses use linux, but what percentage of home users are using it compared to xp? There is no comparison. What about mac? There is no comparison, mac is too expensive and there is nothing better than xp, to date, not for the money. Even mac offers xp on their systems.

Everyone has high hopes for linux and a lot of good talk goes around, but its still not exceptable to most users. I did check it out, I'm not just talking, linux is out of the question for me because I have used xp too long and can't use something worse. Thats why I want xp on my new pc.

Anyway, its easy to dig up data, but don't aim your ms hatred at me, it blinds your thinking. It is childish. I hate ms worse than you - no you don't, i hate them worse than you, no you don't I hate.....
