Hey nr or anyone, how do people get the great looking favicons with fine detail? I downloaded a software that makes them but I just don't get many pixel dpi.

Like the earth for this forum looks great, how'd you do that, or was it picked up somewhere? I want to make my own, but if I do it in ps it won't let me sav as ico file, not in adobe elements anyway.

Dave, once you have the image you want and the size you want you can open it in IrfanView and save it as an .ico

I really don't remember where thet earth favicon came from. I believe that either rb made it or she found it on the internet somewhere. I sure didn't have a hand in creating it...

I'm sure I found it on the net but don't remember what I used to resize unless it was IrfanView. It's been so long ago. I can't find the image in any of my 4fxearth.net folders right now.

I'll keep looking and thinking.

Hummmm, I just found out that IrfanView does not do a good job of saving a .jpg or .gif as a .ico. I think it really needs to be a .bmp first.

K, I finally got it all together! LOL Here is the actual image I used and the ico that DynamticDrive came up with. As you can see it really did suffer through the transition. Maybe if it had been sized smaller before hand.....

Thanks, I'll try that. Now I'll have to chose what kind of image I want. Maybe a cartoon fish, or a really photo...? My favicon did start working for my new site. I think I just needed to clear temp files etc.
