I've read about viruses or Trojans being downloaded by just visiting some web sites but it had never happened to me. Until the other night!
I was looking for a certain graphic program and following links from Google, after following and clicking on more than a dozen links all of a sudden AVG popped up and said a Trojan had been downloaded to my HDD and what did I want to do with it! I choose place in vault because I wanted to know the name, where it had been located and anything else I could find out about it.
Had it not been for AVG I would have no way of knowing about that Trojan. Has anyone else had this experience? To tell the truth until this happned I really doubted that it was possible for a web site to install anything other than a cookie on your HDD without you specifically asking it to. Live and learn.....

| I have had this happen also while searching and I can't believe anyone would not have a detector installed because many are free and work well |

I can't tell you how many times AVG has saved me! I would not run a PC without it. It's one of the first programs I install when I work on someones PC. Whether they want it or not! LOL

Someone on myspace the other day told me they got a couple trojons by just visting peoples profiles.
You still have it in your pc though, I hate that, its like hanging over your head all the time and can't be sure it isn't causing problems. My norton isolates them and virouses, but still, I swear it screws things up.
BTW, after getting that trojon like deal I had last month on laptop, I am shy to download any activex's, and in this forum I was prompted twice last night. I choose not to but when I checked out pbs video for bill moyer editorial it did the same thing, wanted to download activex to view video with quicktime, then after I choose to do it my pc froze up and I had to jerk the battery out of LP to hardstart. Then I rebooted and tried again and it again wanted to download activex but I instead i clicked to view the video in wmplayer and all was fine. I hate qt. |
