The funeral home that handled my Sister-In-Law Erma's burial posts a Memorial DVD on their web site for people to view a series of pictures of her life that is accompanies with music. I cn hear the music but the video screen is dark. Some family members have been able to view it but several of us others can only hear the misic. If you go to www.rollerfuneralhomes.com and enter Erma Lumley in the search box it will bring up her obituary. Then click on it and it will bring up a more deatailed page. At he lower right of this page is "View Memorial DVD". When I click on properties of the DVD it is shown as btn_video.gif.

I would assume that it requires a viewer program that I don't have or I need to assign a program to open gif files. Any suggestions?

Yes I can view it. And with Netscape too. Seems if I can view it with Netscape it can be viewed with just about any browser. Windows Media Player is showing the movie.

OK Bobby, I knew if I struggled long enough I would find a way to save it for you. I uploaded it to our site. It's very good quality, about 20MB, click the link and either view it or download it.

I'll try to make it a Flash file to post here. Not sure I can.

Hey thanks RB. I D/L it to a folder in My Documents. I can also play it in the window in the post above. It Is a gig file isn't it? Did you have to change it ot another type of file before it would play? I changed my associations to Windows Media Player to play gif files but it still won't play on my PC. Will Windows Media play gif files?

Thanks for all of youe effort. Mrs. Bobby will be excited when she gets up in the morning. When Erma's husband, Bobby, died I made copies of the encrypted Memorial DVD for Erma. Those things sell for around $35 if I remember correctly. Thanks agai for your help.

It wasn't and isn't a .gif file, Bobby. A gif is a graphic or an image, usually an animation but not always. What you saw was the property for the image on the page not the movie file.

The movie is wmv file. I downloaded it as such, uploaded to our site as such and it's now playing as such. I tried it and it didn't take long to load so I left it as .wmv and didn't even try to convert it to a Flash.

Hey Tex! (RB) Thanks to you I've got the Memorial video of Erma's life copied to my "My Documents" folder and have made several CDs of it for the family members. Did you notice that I said CD instead of DVD? The Memorial video wasn't but 19.5 MB. I don't remember how large Bobby's (Erma's husband that died in November 2005) video was but it was sold by the funeral home on a DVD and cost $35. Bobby's video should not have been any larger tham Erma's I wouldn't think. When I made copies of Bobby's Memorial DVD I used Erma's copy to copy it from. I had to use DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter to un-encrypt (Is there such a word?) it. Maybe i'm just a lot smarter now than I was then. Or maybe it was GOD's WILL! just kidding. Don't anybody get huffy. And I'm not making fun of your beliefs. More power to you!

This morning my Sister-In-Law asked me if I could make her a memorial CD off of the funeral home site. Her husband's Sister dies last month and she said they never got a copy of the video put out by the funersl home. I went to the Roller McNutt Funeral Home site but was unable tsee the video, the samre as it was with my Sister-In-Law's obituary video. Do you have any idea of wy some of us cannot view it and others can?

Can you explain to me how you went about converting the video so that it can be copied? Or is it too involved a process? I'm enclosing a SS of Sandra's video so you can tell me if you ca see it or if you only hear the music as I do. Where did you download Erma's video from?

Actually it's a web site, just save the bookmark and open it when you want to save a movie. Not all movies will save however.
