Thank you for the input, fishead. I have now been doing a lot of experimenting, I have several copies of my dvd created using several different methods and programs! So many that I have lost my way long ago! LOL

I'm learning more about Nero and it's abilites, I'm impressed. It's not always easy selecting the right tool, I really need to RTFM, but I'm getting there.

I'm hoping I can use Nero for just about all my needs. The tools and ability are there, just digging them out!!

Man! Do I need to get some rewriteable disks to experiment with. A person can use only so many coasters!

Just so you'll know, roxio and nero are almost identical. Nero has more features I think, like the spitting HD, but they are both like brothers, I think they must copy ideas from each other. Roxio has the backup and all, so many features I haven't had the time or need to check them out. Like you guys have said, no sence supporting only one company, we need competition so no one outfit has all the control over consumer.

I would like to find a program where I can actually edit small sections out of the movie. Nero and others say you can but then they go into Titles and Libraries and I don't know what all, I have no idea what they are talking about.

I have one program, don't even remember which one it was, that seemed to do what I want, was able to cut out a section of the movie but after I save it to the HDD turns out that section was still there when I played it! So I don't know what I did. When I replayed it in the program after editing that section was gone. Did something wrong, or didn't do something, before saving it I guess.

You want adobe elements premeire, costs about 60-70 bucks. I use them to edit movie sections, like 15 minute sections. Then I use roxio to put the sections together to burn.

Adobe also captures and you can put the movie together and burn, it does it all. I just like to burn with roxio, its fast and works great. Then I copy with "record now" because its fast.
