rb, I closed my forum down for awhile. I am getting swamped with porn and other spammers. I wrote a bad post about sopammers and so they are swamping me. I will see what I can stir up, I think its like two people that are hounding me, so now I will lockdown my forum for a day to frustrate them, and from now on it will require a code typed in to join. I wish I could get ip to see where they are from. Still looking for forum stats, i think I've seen one before that gives info on visitors. Any way I made them mad so they are swamping me, no forum for awhile until I get rid of the scum. I must have had 12 today that I had to delete. I wish there was more I could do to stop them. Anyway, my forum is shut down till they leave.

Dave there is an ip log you can install that will track every ip addy that goes on your forums even if they don't sign up. I used it on my forums. I will go look for it now for you.

I cant find the ip log I used must of found that at a different site. Sad

I signed in to your forum admin and in your Configuration I noticed that the enable account activation : you have this set to admin I would change that to user so they have to wait to recieve an email to activate their acct this helps cut down on spammers and makes the user have to verify their email addy before becoming a member.

Also you should set your forum Permissions so only registered members can start and reply to topics.

I did not change any of your settings.

I've noticed all the new "members" your borad has been getting, fishead, just by the user name you know what they are. For a while we too were getting a lot of these nuts here at RCF but I would delete them as fast as they registered and we hardly get them anymore.

I've got the log ip on registration mod added. I also added the humaniser, I took out the email and location fields and also added the one where new members have to type in a VIP code.
I've got enable account activation set to admin, I check out the ip via a spam database and delete any that show up there (unless its just because of dynamic ip's)

I found the IPs, but that only lets me know the area. I figured out how to make it easy, I will just got to "member" and copy all the new ones, then go in and delete them. This saves many clicks, now its a breaze to delete them.

I think it was one or two people doing that, and after I shut the forum down for a couple hours they went away. I only had one this morning. I did some research to see who and what type does this, and they're smart people, I saw some photos etc. I did go into phpbb forum and found a mod I want to add, but I need to ask exactly where these mods go, do they go into "phpbb" folder, or into "mod" folder? I would think the mod but from what i read it looks like mods go into phpbb folder.

You're right both times, fishead, sort of. They go in the mods folder which is in the admin folder in the phpBB2 folder. Looks something like this: There are more folders in between I just have the direct ones showing.

There is a mods folder in the phpBB2 folder (last one showing at the bottom) BUT you want the mods folder in the admin folder

If your using easy mod just upload the unzipped files as directed into the admin mods folder - then easy mod will move the files to where they are needed for the mod to work. Smile

Only forums that have the FIND - Forum Integrated News Delivery - Input MOD installed would have a mods folder underneath the phpBB2 folder. Fishead would not have that folder since that MOD is not installed on his board...

All MODs should be uploaded to the admin/mods folder...
