Firefox browser for web 2.0 age
A new version of the Firefox browser for the web 2.0 age is to make its debut on 24 October.
Built in to the updated software is anti-phishing technology, to prevent fraud, as well as built-in spell checking and a search engine manager.
It is released less than a week after Microsoft unveiled Internet Explorer 7.
The Mozilla Corporation, which oversees the development of Firefox, says more than one million people helped refine the final release.
User testing
The first version of Firefox was released in November 2004 and since then has steadily been chipping away at the dominance of Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.
Now it is believed to enjoy a 12-15% market share of the net browsing market globally. But, said Mike Schroepfer, vice-president of engineering at Mozilla, in some nations the share is far higher.

| Cool! I've downloaded it, but haven't installed it yet. I may check on the few extensions I have, see if they're compatible with the new version. |

I haven't downloarded it. A person I talked to that did install it said only one of his exentions were compatable. He uninstalled it.
This version of Firefox installs as a new program, doesn't overwrite the one you already have.

I have only a couple of extensions, and both already had updates for Firefox 2.0.
It's working well, so far. |

I got mine the 21st but said it has the pop, virous stoppers.
I like it but my bookmarks arn't in step with my favorites. Like, if I bookmark a page it doesn't show in favorites, but my old favs do. Otherwise I like it. |

Every browser keeps its own set of bookmarks. You'll need to import them from one to the other, or find some software to synchronize them. Or just go to the same page in both browser, to add to Firefox bookmarks and IE favorites.
The Firefox bookmarks are a web page, an .html file. You should be able to open the bookmarks page in IE and then either add them to favs or go to the page and add them to favs. The easiest way would be to export the bookmarks (in Bookmarks dropdown, pick Organize bookmarks, then in the File dropdown there's and Export command) to your desktop or somewhere easy to find, and then open the bookmarks.html file in IE. |
