I tried removing this person from my forum and did ban this person. I want this person removed completely. I thought I had removed this person but they still show up. Please help...Thank you - Sesco

ps. I changed the username but did not get it deleted?

In your adam go to users put in the users name and then click manage, at the bottom you will see an option to delete the user name

Then get the users ip address - you can find it listed with one of the users post. Go to your ban list in admin and add the ip address to your ban list.

We really need to get some Anti-Spam MODs installed on your site. I don't know how effective they are, but they certainly can't hurt. We are getting between 4-8 Spam registrations per day now. It seems like someone recently opened the floodgates for these idiots. A lot of admins are complaining about this new wave of spammers...

I've been hit with spammers too on my site and our Aero CLub's site that I am managing. I just delete them and add their name to the disallow list, but it does get annoying having to do it.

It is an epidemic My computer crashed and is in the shop. I hit on the link and it was a bomb of prono popups from the spammer, I am on my limited laptop for awhile. Many thanks...Sesco The good news I captured the ip...

Guys, banning an IP address works only if it's a static IP address. If the spammer was on dial-up, his IP address changes every time he dials in. Most cable modem and DSL users also get a new IP address every couple of weeks, or every month or couple of months. If the spammer was using a proxy server, to surf anonymously, then when you ban the IP address you're banning a proxy server and may be banning innocent users of your forum if they happen to use the same proxy.

In general, banning an IP address is not a good idea.

Sesco, I installed a few Security MODs on your board. You can now delete members from their Profile page just like we do here. I uploaded quite a few other good Admin MODs that can be quickly installed. I am too tired to deal with it now...

Perhaps you can try your hand at installing a few of them using EM. If they don't install cleanly without Warning or Critical errors, then skip them and go to the next MOD. Some need to be installed before or after others can be installed...

Also, some require DB Updates before the MODs will work, so you might want to read the author's notes before installing anything. It's better to run any included DB Updates in your browser before modifying the phpBB code...
