I can't find my roxio thread, so I;ll start a new one -

I have roxio 6 and it is great, better than anu other and I have 6 movie programs. I have 7.5 roxio/ SONIC and it seems to work fine. I bought roxio 8 and ran into trouble, and ended with buying and repacing graphics card.

I sold my roxio 6 on ebay. I wrote the guy and we talked about how I can't get roxio 8 to work, and so he sent me a new CD with a copy. He is making copies of the one he bought from me, with book, box and key number, I think he is selling copies on my name. Anyway-

I cannot get roxio 8 to work, it cases all kinds of problems. There is an update at roxio website bigger than windows sp2, will take days to download. So I am left with roxio 8 that doesn't work. So I am using roxio 6 again, I kept it loaded on pc. Roxio sucks now, they could offer to send cds instead of the updates, but won't. I got ripped off. I will try adobi's video software. I tried many others, and with what I do with video I stress any weak program, ... what I really need is adobis good software but cost about 2 grand.

Roxio sucks afterall. So do the snam artists in ebay.

Fishead, from what I've heard Roxio is not the best software out there by far. However, it may be better than what you've experienced. Here is a particular forum on just installing and uninstalling Roxio that may of help to you.

Install / Uninstall / Update

Sometimes it can be a little tricky uninstalling a program. If some programs aren't uninstalled just right it will prevent them from being re installled.

rb, when I first reported my problems with roxio on their forum, there was no update for rox 8. they took it down for some reason. I went back in there awhile back, and now they do have an update, but its 300 mb or something huge, and it isn't possible with dialup. They need to send me a cd since I paid big money for something that doesn't work.

People like to look at roxio as not good, but roxio is sonic, and windows has been using roxio for years, so at one time they were one of the best, and now they fell behind. So what is better, I've tried most all the cheapies, and heard neruo was as bad as any, so the only option I have to get better video software is to buy the adobi. They have a cheap version for video, I will try that since I can't afford the good stuff. Don't listen to what others say, anyone can make a movie but try burning it and see, most people don't go that far and yet they write reviews claiming they work when they don't. I've said this before. I use a lot of video, music, etc and I strain the programs, and roxio is the only program that works properly, the roxio plat. 6. The rest are junk unless your willing to fork out big bucks.

Also, in roxios forum there is a thread about unistalling etc., and tons of people have problems doing it, and they are still working out the bugs. I did get one update and it screwed my r6 up for awhile untill I deleted it.

I will go with adobi, even though those nerds in pc mag says it sucks, they also claim everything else is good and not true, what do they know about video, do they film themselves sitting behind pc? They don't test it good, thats all.

Fishead, I got the Roxio 8 update for you, put it on a CD and it's in the mail.

I hope you made a copy of the Roxio 6 CD because I think the best way to do this is to uninstall Roxio 6 before you update Roxio 8. Maybe uninstall both of them and start over. From what I keep reading it is NOT a good idea to have two different versions of the same program. They claim the applications will conflict.

I know this is true of Nero. The newer Nero will uninstall any older versions on your PC before it will complete the install.
