Anyone familiar with this annoying thing popping up and know how to delete it from the computer? Might be some adware or whatever it's called.

Nope, haven't run across it. Firefox is pretty good at stopping web page pop-ups for me. If winfixer is ad-ware, then you could try using Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, or another spyware-removal program like Spybot Search & Destroy, to check your computer for malware and remove any.

Something you downloaded, Aussie.

Tells some about Winfixer here.

http://errorsafe.fiberia.net/

Use the free Ad-aware and Spybot  Search & Destroy programs to see if they will get rid of it.  Be sure you get the FREE version and not the TRIAL of the paid version.  Free is good.

Let me know if either does any good or not.

Aussie, here is more on WinFix discussed on a forum.  You may have to register to read not sure.  WinFix sounds rather evil.

Aussie, how is it coming with Winfixer?  If you have not resolved it yet let us know.   I know of a site that is pretty good at fixing stuff like this.

Yes, it can be gotten rid of.  A lot depends on how determined you are and how hard you are willing to work at it.  The experience alone is worth it's weight in gold trust me.

You might want to consult with Bobby about determination and hard work, I think he has fine honed it to a science.

At any rate I will point you in the right direction and the rest is up to you, however, if you need any help in doing any of this we will be glad to help you.  Here is the site to ask your question and you want to scroll down to Security Center.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/index.php?

I can tell you right now what they will ask you to do when you post your question and if you want to be ready for them before hand here is the drill.

http://www.techsupportforum.com/hijackthis-log-help/15968-please-read- before-posting-hijackthis.html

The HijackThis Log is what they will use to tell you how to get rid of Winfixer.   Or any other critters you may have on you PC.  Downloading, installing and running HijackThis is a very simple procedure.  You don't want it to DO anything, you just want a copy of the log and let the people at Tech Support Forum look at it.

Aussie, don't let the 6 steps overwhelm you, take them one step at a time,  they really aren't difficult and like I said if you need help feel free to ask here if you wish.
