I am going to add some google ads to my site, I can be getting paid. has anyone heard anything good or bad about this?

My pages will look like googles on right side, a colum of ads releting to my content. I can pick and choose the ads or let them pick ramdom key matchs. Sounds great to me, I get the traffic. I have to give my SS number though.

We had those for a while on our site. They are ok and like you say you have a choice of the size and placement on the board. For some reason we didn't get an interesting variety, they were mostly for Smilies and Web Hosting.

I don't think anyone here was interested in any of them and after a while they began to bother me. As you can see we don't have them anymore.

Be aware that you yourself cannot click on the ads.

Yeah it's called Google Adsense. I had it when I had the main site going. You can set it up to search your site or the web. You'd need a lot of traffic to get any decent money. I had it for about 6 months and think I only made about 40 something cents Rolling Eyes

Yes, unless you have a very high traffic board, the Google ads aren't likely to ever pay off for you. They won't even send you your first check until you have earned $100 and they can cancel your account at any time without notice or explanation. That's what they did to us here at RCF after we had about $30-40 in the bank...

With Google Ads, you have no clue what ads pay well and why and which pay nothing. And for us, we mostly saw Smilie and Web Hosting ads. I filtered out a lot of that, but then we were seeing nothing. I just don't think the Google ads are good for most communities like ours...

OK I changed my mind, thanks all for saving me frim grief.

My stats are down some, need to tweak my toon page. Now its my BF section, I removed it last year and now it is right back up there, higher than I want, I want my fishart at top but can't get in google. I am thinking of starting a new site in my HS host, I can have as many as I want. I will see if this helps or hurts.

Probably a wise decision. I don't think Google Adsense is beneficial to too many sites like ours'. It just clutters up the pages and you never make enough to get paid. I don't think that they are worth it...

I'm having second second thoughts, yesterday I ran my name in google and found some forum is making cards or emails with my toons, (but did leave a working link), now there is no reason for him to be listed so high under my fshed crttoons name, ...I noticed he had google ads on his site/forum/card maker and so I think he is getting privaliges over me with google in listing. I may have to try it to test it out and see.

I did some work on my site to be more effective with google. My toons are stagnet and BF is hot. I removed my toon names and added just catagories, so google doesn;'t get confused. I figured out some things, google skips pages, so make the pages that are listed, count. I also noticed some keywords in wrong pages from a old, and this can hurt. I also removed all text from my subpages. I am hoping google will stay focussed on what I want it to be using for key words.

I went thru my CD backups to find more toons, I want to add a bunch more to see if that helps. I found over 1000, and several sizes/copies of each, numering in the thousands, I have to sort all these out today if possible. Many toons I forgot I made.

Also, fishead, make sure every page on your site has a title that describes that page, or that toon. I used to title all my animation pages "Animation" by itself. Then one day I went through and changed the titles to "Christmas animation" or "Birthday animation" or whatever, and suddenly my stuff was showing up on the first pages of Google image search. Weird.

I think I figured it out, that guy had a decent forum, and he got it listed ingoogle as do all websites pretty much, and since he has no content, except my cartoons, my name stands out and gets listed.

The only way I could stop him would be to go in and pollute it with what ever I wanted, ..., Like "Fishing". I did join and posted a toon, might as well get a little control over it and use him in return. Maybe I'll make a page in his name and steal his traffic.
