Fishead, the ftp program is for uploading files to the web server, and downloading to your own computer's hard drive. Check the hosting service's instructions on how to set up your ftp program. They should tell you what the URL is (sometimes it's a certain web server, a name such as oberon.hostingservice.com, and sometimes it's the domain name), but the URL does not include "http" nor "ftp" and usually not the www part of a domain.

1st Page 2000 is an HTML editor, for writing or changing the coding on your web pages. It's purpose is the same as the sitebuilder software at your fishead hosting service, but it's more flexible and you're not limited to what the sitebuilder allows. You can build pages any way you want, with anything in any spot.

OK, I want to open the forum like this one, so I type in his address - www.catch-n.com Â ? Â Then sign in? And enter the administration area? Then what, if I get that far?

I just tried catch-n.com, and it was "connecting" and "waiting" back and forth but never would do anything. I am using my own name and password, can I still get in or do I have to have his adm and password? If so I can go to step 2.

That sounds great about the website builder, I think I understand that part, at this point, sounds exciting.

You have to use whatever user name and password was used to open the web site.

Is this your own web site you are trying to access or someone who you are helping? You may have to ask them for that info.

If you have a seperate password you may have to check Anonymous and then log in

It is someone I am helping, the catn site that is like yours rb.

I have my own name and he made me an administrator. Is this enough? I can click at bottom and get inside, and edit things. You see, I don't fully understand what this is for unless it gives me more options than what I am seeing now. There just seems to be stuff missing, I have much more in my small forum.

So my question is -

Does it matter if I enter hoggies forum (like yours) under my own adm. name,

or do I see more edit features using hogie's name and password?

He gave me the name & password, so I can use it, but didn't want to if didn't have to.

What I am wanting to do is add keywords and site description to his forum and lunar hosted site, then work on one webpage of his. They are waiting..... I need to get this site up and running quickly.

I moved to a new thread, but will say - I can't find how to add the logo at top, those types of things are missing.

So many folders and files. It can be confusing until you get used to it. I haven't but Blake can find anything needed in his sleep.

Fishead if you need to find the folder or file for any page or part on a page I'm sure Blake can tell you where it is.

I will send him an email alerting him to this thread. Right now I think he is extremely busy.

Fishead, if you are looking for where the logo is displayed in Hoggie's phpBB forum, look in the templates folder. There may or may not be more than one template. Each template has an overall_header.tpl file where all the top of the page information is displayed on each page on the board...
