In your ACP General Admin Configuration page, I turned off the Use SMTP option. There must be a problem with the outgoing SMTP addy or the username and/or password. If you have this turned off, phpBB will use the default outgoing email server for your domain, which appears to be the same thing you were using in the SMTP settings...

Yes, it should work fine without specifying the SMTP settings. The only reason you would want to use that option is if you wanted to use a SMTP setting different from your domain email server...
