My PC is getting older and the drivers are quitting by the day... I invested $30 in a program called Driver Detective... I never spend money on stuff like this but having had a difficult morning with my PC yesterday. I just did it... So far so good and my PC is working like new... Have any of you used programs like this and will it hold up for me. Or did I just fooleshly spend $3o ?

Programs like that work fine.  Sounds like it did a good job finding and installing new drivers for you. It's a good idea to make backups of your drivers before you update in case things go South but the newer versions of Windows do have restore points ....

I have used DriverMax in the past, I have a free version, but I haven't used it in quite some time. I just launched it and it's out of date and needs replacing.  Not sure if it's still free or not, I guess I'll find out when I install it.  LOL

Hummm, just found this:

http://thefreewarejunkie.com/2009/07/announcement-drivermax-free-is-no w.html

The free version of DriverMax seems to be very limited now.  Man! that bites!  It's such a great program.  Don't even know how much they are charging, can't find the price anywhere.

Brick wall

PS.  Did finally find it, it's $30. I'll look some more for a free one if there is such an animal still left.

LOL, I doubt it.  Apparently you had a lot of drivers that needed updating badly!  The $30 appears to have been well spent.

The last time I checked my drivers out with my "free" program everything was up to date so I think I'm ok for right now.

If I don't find a free one I may try yours or go ahead and pay for the one I had.  It was so easy to use.

I went to look at your Driver Detective and it really sounds nice!

http://www.drivershq.com/

I read the following and I highly suggest you do that in case you ever need to reload your operating system.  You can just launch your backup and have all the drivers installed at one time or choose the ones you want installed.

Driver Backup Wizard

With Driver Detective there is no need to worry about losing drivers again. The program has a built in wizard that allows you to copy (backup) your downloaded drivers to a CD, network drive, or USB flash drive.

Pretty good review here, they mention something about wrong and outdated drivers, you should report them so they can be corrected.  Hummm, that's kinda like helping to write the program.

Still looking .....

Yahooo!

I'm glad I went ahead and installed the newest DriverMax.  Appears I still have all the features and it's still free, it just installed the newer version over what I had.  You can upgrade to Pro version but that was there before.  The free version has all I will ever need.
