Free download available for Windows 7 test

The final test version of Microsoft’s Windows 7, the replacement for problem-ridden Windows Vista, is being unveiled this week for a tryout. Some believe the new operating system will be available in stores and on new computers by fall.

For those who want to try it out, a free Windows 7 download is available at www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx . Because it’s free, the test version will quit working June 1, 2010. For a list of new features in Windows 7, see www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/whats-new.aspx .

I just may give it a try!

I'm still trying to decide about the download.  I think the machine I'm now using may be the only one that has the requirements to run Win7 and I don't think I want to tie it down with Win7.  My backup PC has a 2.08 GHz processor and 1 GB memory ...  I may try using that one.

Yahooooooooo!

Well after a few missteps, stumbling around and headbanging all of a sudden it installed pretty as you please!  So far everything is work great, no errors so far.  Have internet, IE is version 8.  Man I gotta get SeaMonkey, I want something on here to look like home!

Nice colors ...  lots to learn.  Not sure there isn't a quick launch area but can't seem to figure it out yet.  Matter of fact the entire tool bar is the pits, you need a manual just to understand it. LOL. So different from what I'm used to.  I keep looking for "Classic" everywhere and it's nowhere in sight.  Man!  This should keep me busy for the next year or so.  LOL

After AVG the next thing I installed as GADWIN!!!  LOL

I've whipped some of it into shape.  Or it has whipped ME into shape, not sure which.  LOL  At any rate I'm locating stuff I couldn't find at first.  However, I will NEVER get used to the way Windows Explorer displays.  Apparently this new way was started in Vista, I wouldn't know because I've seen very little of Vista.  From what I read this is suppose to be better than the old way and it's what people have been wanting, but speaking for myself give me the old way!!!  LOL

I don't know .... I don't think I'm ready to trade in XP for Windows 7.  It's kind of fun to play with but I just don't see it being my main OS.  But then I'm such a stick in the mud and don't like major changes.  That isn't Window's fault.  I think the general public will most likely accept it as better.

Having said all that I don't see any real problems with it.  It has not crashed or produced any errors so far.  Well .... I think I'll take that back, I can't install any type Flash player, tells me it's not compatible with the system I'm running, that doesn't make sense when so many of the web sites have some sort of Flash.  I'm sure that will be fixed.

I would suggest anyone that has a spare HDD, plug it in, disconnect the HDD you're using and install this OS, take a look and take it for a test drive while it's free.

I know what you mean. Its like switching the brake with the gas peddle and expecting people to like it and get used to it... NOT. They must be young people that like new things that build this stuff. Wait a couple years and when they grow up they will realize how hard they made it on everyone by changing everything that doesn't need changed.
