They have 2 .com 's in one url, when I try it I get a dos document and I get error message if I try to use it. How do they do it? It seems to move them up the ladder in google by using my name with .com behind it and some are passing me up in my own business name. |

There is so many websites stealing traffic these days it just makes me sick. Directories are popping up all over the place, they list all your information, keywords and everything and then they get listed high in google and steal traffic.
One site had been stealing from me since 2002 and I called him 3 more times today, and he says ok but doesn't remove the link which is broken. His emails don't work either, haven't for years. Maybe he hired someone to build the site and he doesn't know how to remove but tomorrow I am calling again and threatening to get a lawyer. I did file a dissatisfied search report with google but I doubt that does anything.
Then theres these afilliates that help people sell stuff, well they take your key words and store names and repeat these all over on some webpages so they get listed above you and divert all your traffic through them and they show that traffic hundreds of other stores and you end up losing business, not gaining it.
I have been going to some sites and clicking on their addds necxt to my business names, hope they get removed and don't get paid.
The internet is an ugly place and seems google is doing nothing to stop these vultures. They and growing in record numbers at a fast pace and soon there won't be anything but stupid directories and no more real content websites. Google needs to wake up and stop these thieves. And businesses need to wake up and set some rules for afiliates because they are attracting thieves. |

I don't understand any of that, Dave. I guess if I was running a "for business" site I would learn in a hurry though!
I do know sometimes when I do a search I get a bunch of junk sites, seems they were created for nothing more than to hold ads and none of the actual info you are looking for is there. You're right, Google needs to do something about this before it really gets out of hand and search becomes next to useless.

I still would like an answer to my question if anyone knows, how do they make a page with two .com 's in one url? When I tried it the document turned into a dos page. I could add a dash and then com behind it, but not 2 .coms. www.quantcast.com/fisheadtackle.com

Google needs to do something about this
|
After doing some checking, Google can't do anything about it, they have to list sites and cannot decide who gets listed and who doesn't. I did learn that they have to list a working email and contact information in with their host, which can be found in whois sites. http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/butlerwebs.com I found a working email and sent two emails, one a page showing my copyright declaration. I also wrote all the other cartoonists on that page. Some of their links don't work either. BTW, that site butlerwebs is listed at 100,000 in alexa. |

Without looking at their code, I couldn't begin to guess what they are doing to make it possible to have two .coms in the URL. My guess is that it is being treated as a constant and is passed to their software where if it has the information, it spits out the results. Apparently you have registered with this site before and have installed software on your site to be able to track useful information about it. If you put our domain name in the path, it has nothing...

No nr, I haven't registered with that site and I didn't add any code from them. maybe they get it from google analinics, I do have that code snidbit on a page. I did not add a code snibit from them voluntarily. I am positive, and I am not a member I am positive.
They are a new site I think, I haven't seen them before. If you click on the link you should see where I haven't given them any data. It asks if this is my site, I can complete the data if I want.
I don't think this site is harmful, it appears to be another site like alexa. Sometimes these outfits play dirty starting out, like I had godaddy phish my website when they were first starting out.
Maybe I will remove that google analinics code, I don't use it anyway. |

Nr, here is the code for google analinics. If it contains anything else, I didn't put it there, but I think this is all googles code: (ps, scrol down to see it all)
| Code:
|
<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
_uacct = "UA-4269594-1";
urchinTracker();
</script>
|
and its from this page, my index page at the bottom: http://www.fisheadtackle.com/ |

This is the code they provide to Quantify your site:
| Code:
|
<!-- Start Quantcast tag -->
<script type="text/javascript">
_qoptions={
qacct:"p-ddVIbI8gzs9xM"
};
</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://edge.quantserve.com/quant.js"></script>
<noscript>
<img src="http://pixel.quantserve.com/pixel/p-ddVIbI8gzs9xM.gif" style="display: none;" border="0" height="1" width="1" alt="Quantcast"/>
</noscript>
<!-- End Quantcast tag -->
|
They seem to have a lot of information on your site, so I'm betting this code is stored somewhere in one of your web pages. You seem to be registered with them...

I think they are guessing or making up the Demographics and the description is easy to get right from fishead's page. It says he isn't qualified, which I assume means not registered. This is just a come on trying to get the owner of the site to register. Probably have to pay too.
