I got a java update the other day, then started getting popups for spybot to except changes to my registry. No matter if I excepted changes or not it kept coming back. Then it started doing a search every time I would try to boot up, not letting me boot up until it finished, so I finally got tired of it and uninstalled it. I wonder what happened, the update made spybot get sick on me. I see on a search that a lot of people complain about it giving false alarms etc.

I also got a Java update the other day but it didn't make my Spybot go crazy.  Yet.  LOL  Maybe download a new install of it, update and see what happens.

Also under settings make sure it's not set to scan automatically on bootup of PC.

well this was my vista pc, I didn't get the updates on my xps. It prompted me asking if I wanted to run a scan on next start up and I clicked no but it was doing it anyway.
