XP era ends: Will Vista step up?

The Windows XP era ends June 30 and soon hardware vendors will be shipping you all Vista all the time (in most cases). The save XP effort failed. The whining should cease. And now it’s time for Vista to sink or swim.

Ina Fried has a good overview of where Windows XP will stand with PC manufacturers. And Matt Asay highlights a report from Evans Data noting that 92 percent of developers are ignoring Vista. Coupling these two items together and you come to one conclusion: Folks are skeptical about Vista, but a lot of that skepticism is because XP is still lingering.

I just finished a brand new install of WindowsXP Pro 64-bit on a brand new 64-bit system and I intend for it to last at least 100 years!  LOL  I'm going to fight Vista with my dying breath!  I think most people are just bidding their time until the next M$ build but according to what read it will be based on Vista so those people may as well bit the bullet and get Vista

Well Mojo I have to admit I don't speak from 1st hand experience, just based on what I keep hearing and reading.  My understanding is that the biggest grip is that it bugs you with pop ups and fills the hard drive with unwanted backups.  If it's anything like a new fire wall I'm trying I can relate!  This dadgum firewall is going to have to go, it's driving me bananas!

If i didn't know better, I would say vista is ok cause it is ok on my laptop. I run into problems when I have to work with hundreds of gigs of videos. Somethings are better than xp. There are times I get reminders, but for the most part I like vista on this laptop. But, what I know that most don't is once you start having problems you are a cooked duck, your screwed cause it is not user friendly when you try to configure anything.

If it wasn't for my videos, I would probably go back to vista on my work horse. I do wish I could because it is like xp for one thing, the screen isn't stretched for another, and there is a few good benefits here and there. But its a monster in disguise, it will eat you for lunch if you don't do it the way bit wants you to. Non the less I bet you would be k with it rb, not many people need 300 gigs to work on video like I do. This laptop has 320 gig, 2 gig ram, dual processor and so vista works ok. Fill up hd with a few hundred gigs and you in deep stuf.
