Court considers whether its legal to resell software

When you buy a piece of software, you may or may not actually own it. In many instances, software makers insist that what you're actually paying for isn't ownership of the application, but a license to use the application. And if that's all you paid for, then you don't have the right to resell the software.

This doesn't seem right somehow. First of all the person that sold the software to that man didn't have the right to do that did he? He didn't own the software only the license. So the software was actually "stolen" when he sold it. Right?

If I buy a stolen car, weather I know it's stolen or not, I do not have the right to sell it. And if I do and am caught I'll either go to jail or have to give the money back. And I don't get the car back either. Isn't that the way it works?

i would think so RB, most of the software you buy, states you only have the right to use it on one pc.
