OK, you're talking about the Malicious Software Removal Tool.  It updates and runs everytime I do Windows updates but it never finds anything.  I could be wrong but I suspect it's next to useless.  Dave, have you ever had it find anything bad on your PC?

How to Use Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (MRT.EXE) in Vista, XP, 2000 and 2K3

No I just saw it on youtube. Someone in ebay had someone hack in and really screwed him up, they ordered thousands of dollars worth of items in his name and people in forum were telling him all the ways people could have got in, and malware was one so I came across the video. They were saying in ebay to run a full scan often, and anti virouse and change passwords often. This whole thing started with someone leaving code in a banner link that was getting them afiliate credit by being sneaking and had it hidden in the link code, thats why I was looking around. Nasty people out there.

It goes like this, refib=store is added to end of link to get credit, but someone added more code in the link of a banner belonging to someone else, and so the author got the afiliate credit and the banner owner only got the traffic. Could benefit both but its kind of sneaky. I will keep an eye out for this now that I know about it.

I always see this mysterious MSRT in my Win updates and wonder what it really is all about too Lady Rose. I had a trojan recently and it did NOT detect nor notice it. I ended up going over to The Tech Guy's forum and getting help to remove it. Was removed in a matter of 5 - 6 posts or less over a day or two. I think it is sus as we say in the hood. Stand for 'suspect'.

You know Geek Gurl had to go testing stuff. So I open the mysterious hidden in the background program to see what was what. I entered on a very short page and then on to a page to decide what type of scan I wanted. I picked the basic and fastest and of course it found nothing WHICH is a good thing mind you. But still, I feel like it is MicroSpyware. And yeah, I saw that line as well Lady Rose. Until anyone can prove t does anything RELEVANT, next update... NOT!!
