I have a problem thats driving me crazy, I dragged my notepad out of quick launch by mistake and deleted it. I cannot find another copy anywhere, its lost. I checked all programs, I checked program files in ms office and windows folders.
Do you know what I mean? I lost the blue cover copy, the main copy. Now if I put a blank notepad in quick lauch, it opens as my last notepad used full of text. Driving me crazy, I use this several times per hour, I need it bad. I may have to re-install ms office? |

I know how you feel, Dave, I too use NotePad a lot!
Are you sure it's not in All Programs somewhere? Mine is under Accessories in W2K. The one in your Quick Launch was a shortcut the real program is still somewhere I'm sure. If not in All Programs than somewhere in Explorer.

OK, I found it on my PC in C:\WINNT. If it's not there in XP or Vista do a search for NotePad, it will show you where it is. Right click it and from the menu choose to make a short cut on the desk top. From there you can drag it to the Quck Launch.

| No it wasn't anywhere to be found. I used my flash drive to transfer the darned thing from my oter computer and that worked. It was driving me crazy!!!!! Thanks for the help rb. |

I can relate, it would drive me crazy too if I didn't have instant access to NotePad. When I work on someone's PC the first thing I do is put NotePad, Control Panel and Explorer in the Quick Launch. And Desk Top if it's not there. I don't know how people do with them at their finger tips, I use most of those several times a day.
Glad you got your NotePad back.

No, it a very simple word processor. I use it mostly for, like the name implys, notes. For instance I launch it to paste in URLs and sections of articles as I surf the net doing research. It's sort of like using a scribble pad on your desk.
Open up a copy and look at it Mojo. Not much to it but to me it as useful as a paper and pen. Put a shortcut in your quick launch bar where it's handy and easy to get to. I bet you will find a lot of uses for it.

There is also a utility call Word Pad that is more elaborate than NotePad and into which you can actually paste stuff! And you can actually send a copy of what you pasted into it by email right from the program.
Here is a screen shot of the WordPad, you can type what you want or copy and paste what you want into it and then go to File and choose Send ..... your email program will launch, just type in the address and Send! Your Word Pad document will be sent. I copied and pasted in some of this message and took a screen shot of the logo at the top of this page and pasted it right into WordPad. NEATO! Try it Mojo!
