the interenet was a dog yesterday, had to uninstall mcafee and resstall it, all with a toothache, what a pain! Brick wall

plus i had to diagnose network problems and etc, dunno what the heck i did , but the net is workig a lot faster now, was kind of like havin g dial up back, .... dontknow

thanks RB, i hope i don't have to spend anothe rwhole day without sleep after working with a toothache fixing the net. several naugty words were spoken and not by the three dachshunds either.. blob8

Hopefully next time you have a problem with the PC you won't have a toothache and you will be rested. And you know there WILL be another problem eventually, it's just the nature of the beast. Then again on the other hand it's possible that will be the only glitch you will ever experience with that PC. It is possible...

Mojo, insight comes with a great anti virous.

Sometimes if you have problems with internet, unplug the router (insight box) for 5 minutes.

Also, sometimes when internet is slow with vista it could be:

Vista is defragmenting or file checking in the background;
MS is updating in the background;
McAffee or anti virous is running a scan;
etc.,

I would highly recomend uninstalling McAfee and using insights antiVirous, it will let you know who is trying to get in, it has a great firewall.

Thanks everyone for the help. I ended up uninstalling mcafee and reinstalling from disc. this helped but it said i had one month of free antivirus, i paid for 3 years from insight, (3 yrs for price of 1)
I also unplugged router and that helped a lot. now the computre is running and i am able to access the webistes. aI sent a note to dell and they sent one back tellig me that they couldn't help mcafee prob, but gave me the place to go. i got great feedback from them. I had to uninstall the antivirus again and download from website and all is well. i have my 3 years back, comp is working fine, so round one goes to Mojo!!!
Yes Rb the toothache didn't help, i my lower back is also out, and painful, tooth is great, now, had to go on antibiotics, the dentist wasn't very helpful, he didn't think it looked too bad, not in his mouth it didn't, but life is good, comp is working, i am working and things are looking up! blob8
