Microsoft offers this free tool for resizing digital pictures and it is handy. I use it constantly and it is a time-saver if you have many digital pictures to be resized.

Half the fun of taking pictures is sharing them with family and friends.

While it's great that newer digital cameras can take beautiful 5-, 6-, or 7-megapixel pictures, e-mailing such large photo files can clog up your recipient's Inbox. Resizing pictures before you e-mail them—or even before you burn them to a CD—is made simpler using a free Windows XP download called the Image Resizer, which is one of the many handy tools that make up the Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP.

You can also use the Image Resizer to resize photos so they'll fit on a compatible cell phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), or Portable Media Center so you can enjoy your photos while on the go. Using the Image Resizer is easy, and it will preserve your original photos for other uses you may have in the future.

I'm forwarding this to my niece. The one that clogs up my email with HUGE jpgs! She sent 3 pictures the other day and they were almost 10MB in size. That's almost the total size of my allowed email storage for crying in the milk.

I thought this was already a feature of XP, if you right click an image you get a choice to resize in the menu that pops up.. No?

The program in XP lets you resize one picture at a time. This becomes very tedious if you have many to resize. Image Resizer lets you resize a bunch of pictures at one time.

I just spent about a half hour trying to create an album for your pictures, Karen, and I have determined .... I just can't do it! LOL

I did create an Album actually but it's listed under Users Gallery and I have no idea how to get it into the main section OR how to get your pictures into it. Hate to experiment too much I might blow up the whole place.

Another one of those things that will take the hand of Nightrider to solve.
