I'm really wanting an iBook for website design but I'm concerned that phpbb wont handle really well with it, or am I panicking for nothing because it is all php and it won't matter. I'm sure that there are people out there that wouldn't part with their PC's and I'm sure that's the same thing with the Mac's too, but I would like to have my cake and eat it if I can and don't see why I should chose between two viable OS's
Thanks

I really don't know of any books to suggest. I doubt that you have anything to worry about though as far as whether phpBB can handle new web pages or not. They really aren't related unless you combine them in some way. And the OS on your PC or Mac shouldn't matter either since the code on the Web is independent of the OS that you are running. Web pages should display the same whether you are using Windows or OS X or Linux or any other OS...
The only problem is that some web page developers only code their pages to work in IE, thereby promoting a M$ product. That is a huge mistake unless the intended audience will be strictly IE users. In this world, the number of people using alternate browsers is increasing dramatically and IE is losing its popularity. So it is best to use the International Standards and produce web pages that will work in all browsers, not just IE. If you use M$'s FrontPage, you are likely to produce a webpage that only works correctly in IE, so I strongly recommend that you avoid using that tool...

I was just concerned that I have spent so much time on working on the PHPBB that I didn't want to just scrap it. Also I have got all the books that I need at the moment .......to be quite honest I think it is silly just have a site that is just IE freindly, you should have variety.
The Dreamweaver issue is another thing though, I am using DW at the moment but haven't found a viable program for my PC (I have found one for the mac though - not till I get it though ) |

I really like 1st Page 2000. You might want to try it and see what you think. I use it to edit all my phpBB and HTML pages...

I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't heard of it. But it used to be one of the most popular free web page editors available. I really don't like the current version 1st Page 2006...

That's terrific. I really like 1st Page 2000 too. I use it for almost everything I do with phpBB, MODs, and HTML web pages. I use UltraEdit to open and edit Database backup files too since very few other text editiors can handle files that large...

Moon2fire, did you install 1st Page 2000? There is a download for 1st Page 2000 called 1stTransfer that works something like a plugin, it's installed in the 1st Page2000 Program file, it's an FTP program. But Nightrider doesn't think too much of it. LOL
