I'm considering adding a DVD/CD burner that will handle thenew multi-layer DVDs to allow me to burn larger amounts of data and movies. I already have an existing DVD/CD burner. I have an open bay below my "E" drive. Can I just add the new burner and keep the existing one or do I have to replace the existing one with the new one? If I add the new burner and keep the existing one, what would I hook the new one to (which cable)? Will having two burnerts present any problems with my PC recognizing either? I actually have a "D" drive which ids a DVD/CD burner and the "E" drive which is a DVD read and CD burner. When i had it built I was supposed to be getting burners on both the "D' and "E" drives so that I could burn directly from one to the other. I can still do that as long as I use the non-DVD burner ( "E") as the originating source.
Any suggestions as to which brand, speed, etc. that would be the best to buy? I would like to have the Lightscribe Technology available on the new burner. I would like a fast burner but it is not a high priority requirement. |

I don't really have a suggestions as to model or brand. I think the Lightscribe Technology is great and if you're replacing, or buying for that matter, I certainly would go for the Lightscribe.
If it was me I think I would just replace one of the burners or players you have. Not sure you would have a place to plug in one more burner anyway.

| My son has a new pc with double burn disc capability. I laughed when he told me, and didn't say much. He later came back and said he doen't like it. I don't remember if it was the price or what, but he said he didn't like it. |

If you only have one HDD installed on your PC, you could theoretically hook up one more burner if you already have two installed. You should have an extra connection on the HDD cable that you can use to connect to the new DVD burner...
