Funny thing this guy left a link in a post and it takes me to my own website. Can anyone shed some light on this? Seems like my site is being framed. Thats not the first time. BigDaddy framed my site for awhile, and mia.com framed my site for a long time. Surely this guy wouldn't try that when nr and rb and others names are in sight. Whats going on, who did he do this, list his url but takes me to my own website?

He is phishing my site I think. When people click on my link it will take them to his...? Not yet but thats what he's testing, then he will reverse it later I bet. I read something about frame protection, can't remember, think it was in phpbb help. If I don't add a frame protector I am open to this, but if I get it wrong I will lock people out of my own site. |

Phishing, Pharming, and Identity Theft
Phishing is a popular and growing method of identity theft, typically performed either through email or through the creation of a Web site that appears to represent a legitimate company. Victims are asked to provide personal information such as passwords and credit card numbers in a reply email or at the bogus Web site.
While previously phishers targeted mainly larger financial institutions, these criminals are moving into new areas constantly including credit unions, hotels, and insurance companies.
“Spear phishing” the practice of targeting an attack to a specific group is gaining in sophistication and frequency.
Pharming is a scamming practice in which malicious code is installed on a personal computer or server, misdirecting users to fraudulent Web sites without their knowledge or consent. Pharming has been called "phishing without a lure."
The Federal Trade Commission reports that identity theft now affects more than 10 million people every year representing an annual cost to the economy of $50 billion. The Anti-Phishing Working Group reports that the frequency of these phishing attacks increases 24% every month.
Phishing schemes that are not identified and shut down can bring on devastating financial losses and significantly harm consumer trust. |

I notice when fishead puts that URL in HIS post it goes to the guys blog.
How did he do that?
|
Why wouldn't it go to the guy's blog? That's what the link is to...
Fishead, why not just delete the topic???
The guy simply made a mistake in the syntax of the hyperlink. Notice that there is a space before the http part. That is why the link goes to your site rather than his blog...

Just curious nr. Seems strange that his url goes to my site. People are scamming others these days by way of using other peoples website identity, like they get paypal data in my websites name. Its pretty scary stuff.
I checked again and he did leave a website -http://www.corecoded.com/
it takes you to a holiday card and tries to install a media player. The otherday I clicked to update my media player in laptop and I got a real nice new player, but it has some other name on it and when I went to msn to update in main pc there is no such update. MSN somehow released rights for companies to download there own players somehow. It happened to my old windows media player also a while back, I got this little icon that has links to a ton of media sites. There is a lot of stuff going on with these players. I'm not really complaining, I really like that media player on laptop, can't remember the brand right now. I bet that player has something to do with what he is testing. Seems phishy anyway. |

The reason the link goes to your site instead of his is because he made a mistake in the hyperlink URL and left a space in front of the http part of the URL. So the phpBB interpretter just replaced the URL with your own forum link. The guy didn't do that intentionally and he had no control over how phpBB handled the problem. It is clear that his intent was to include a link to his blog, but he screwed up...

How do you know it was a mistake? I don't think it was, I think it was intentional so fishead would think the URL was going to his own site. I still don't understand how it got fixed when fishead posted it. I'm sure fishead didn't change anything, he only copied and pasted unless the got that link from the profile.
These spammer are doing something I/we don't understand. Why would someone out of the blue just happen to post in fisheads forum if the was not up to something?
No I don't trust the guy. Or anyone else that does this. They do such strange things that don't make sense to us but I bet it does to them.

The guy was trying to advertise his blog in his "Test" post. The fact that his link didn't work is a pretty good indicator that he made a mistake. Why would he post a link to his blog that used the phpBB parser to redirect the link back to fishead's forum? That would make no sense at all if it was intentional. The guy only succeeds if you end up on his Blog page after clicking on that link. So it is clearly an accident that he left a space in front of the http in the hyperlink code. That was clearly not the intent...
The reason it worked when fishead reposted it is because he didn't use the HTML hyperlink code for the link. So in fishead's link, clicking on it successfully redirects you to the Blog page just as the poster had intended. Fishead "fixed" the problem by not making the same mistake that the original poster made...
It is still an advertisment for the guy's blog page. That's why the topic should be deleted. There really isn't any more to it than that, so there is no need or reason to make more of it than a silly mistake on the poster's part. Most times, the obvious explanation is the correct one...
